Slovakia is a part of the Schengen area, where people, goods, services and capital can flow freely. The EU blue card is also regarded as temporary residence. The first temporary residence permit can be granted for different periods and can be extended several times according to the purpose of granting.

Applications for temporary residence must be submitted at the diplomatic missions of Slovakia and China in your country of nationality or residence. You can also apply to the foreign police station in charge of your place of residence under the following circumstances: live in Slovakia with a valid residence permit; ? You live in Slovakia with a national visa; ? Your stay in Slovakia is based on permission to stay; ? You are a citizen of a country that does not need a visa; ? You have a Slovak overseas residence certificate. Applications for temporary residence for intra-company transfer must be submitted to the diplomatic missions in Slovakia and China.

Submitting an application does not mean that you have the right to live in Slovakia. If you don't get a residence permit within 90 days after entering Slovakia or before the visa expires, you will have to leave Slovakia.

Applications must be submitted in person in an official form in Slovak (also available on MIC website mic.iom). The application must also submit the following materials: A valid passport; ? The authorities will make a decision within 90 days (sometimes within 30 days) from the date when you submit a complete application.

In most cases, after obtaining temporary residency, you must:

? Enter Slovakia within 180 days after being approved, otherwise its validity will be invalid, and report the start time of your residence to foreign police within 3 working days after entering Slovakia; ? Sign the health insurance policy within 3 working days after receiving the residence certificate; ? Submit a document about your health insurance in Slovakia to the foreign police within 30 days after collecting the residence documents; ? Within 30 days after collecting the residence certificate, submit a medical report of no more than 30 days to the foreign police station to confirm that he has no diseases that endanger public health; ? Living in Slovakia for more than half of the approved temporary residence time in a calendar year;

Permanent residency gives you the right to stay in Slovakia * * * and the country (SR) during the granting period, and to carry out activities in almost the same scope as your own citizens. It gives you the right to go abroad and return home, work, do business, study or get medical and social security. There are three types of permanent residence: five-year permanent residence, indefinite permanent residence and long-term residence.

If you meet the following conditions, you can apply for permanent residency for five years:

? Spouses of Slovak citizens permanently residing in Slovakia or immediate family members of Slovak citizens permanently residing in Slovakia; ? Unmarried children under the age of 18 are entrusted to foreigners who are spouses of Slovak citizens permanently residing in Slovakia for personal care; ? Unmarried children under the age of 18 of foreigners who have lived permanently for five years, or children under the age of 18 entrusted by foreigners who have lived permanently for five years; ? Dependent children of foreigners with permanent residency 18 years old or older may be unable to take care of themselves due to long-term adverse health conditions.

In some cases, even if these requirements cannot be met (such as granting stateless persons, witnesses or for reasons worthy of special consideration), the Slovak government can grant you permanent residency for five years if it wishes. The Slovak Ministry of Interior and People's Republic of China (PRC) can also grant permanent residency for five years.

The application for five-year permanent residence can be submitted to the competent foreign police station or Slovak diplomatic mission in your country of nationality or residence according to your place of residence.

You can only submit an application to a foreign police station if:

? You live in Slovakia with a valid residence permit; ? You live in Slovakia with a national visa; ? According to the representative agreement between Slovakia and another member state on granting Schengen visa, you live in Slovakia with a Schengen visa granted by another member state; ? Your stay in Slovakia is based on permission to stay; ? You are a citizen of a country that does not need a visa; Or? You have a Slovak overseas residence certificate. In diplomatic missions, you will be interviewed to make a preliminary evaluation of your application. Applications must be submitted in person in an official form in Slovak. Documents proving the purpose of the application, such as marriage, certificate issued in Slovakia and spouse's permanent residence certificate, residence in Slovakia (that is, valid identity card); ? Excerpts from your country of origin and countries that have lived for more than 90 days for six consecutive months in the past three years; ? Financial guarantee documents for your residence in Slovakia, the amount of which is 12 times the legal minimum living guarantee; ? Your accommodation documents in Slovakia; ? These documents shall not exceed 90 days when the application is submitted. All documents issued abroad must be officially certified (Hague certification or super notarization) and officially translated into Slovak.

The authorities will make a decision within 90 days from the date when you submit a complete application. An administrative fee of 4.50 euros * is required for issuing a residence permit (that is, an ID card). Submitting a five-year permanent residence application does not mean that you have the right to live in Slovakia. Before obtaining permanent residency, you have the right to stay in Slovakia only on the basis of a valid visa, another residence or visa-free system.

After becoming a permanent resident for five years, you must: enter Slovakia within 180 days after obtaining approval; ? Inform the competent foreign police station of the start of your residence within 3 working days. Arrive in Slovakia; ? Sign the health insurance policy within 3 working days? Submit a medical report to the foreign police within 30 days after collecting the residence documents to confirm that you have no diseases that endanger the public health of another EU member state.

You can apply for permanent residence indefinitely if you meet the following conditions: you have permanent residency for at least five years, with a term of four years. You are the child of a foreigner under the age of 18 and live permanently and indefinitely.

The application for indefinite permanent residence must be submitted to the competent foreign police station in Slovakia in person according to your place of residence. You must do this before the last day of the validity period of your current residence. The following materials must be submitted at the same time when applying:

A valid passport; ? Two color photos (33.5 cm); ? Financial guarantee documents for your residence in Slovakia, the amount of which is 12 times the legal minimum living guarantee; ? Documents proving your health insurance; ? Excerpts from the criminal registration of your country of origin and the country where you have lived for more than 90 days for six consecutive months in the past three years (only applicable to children of foreigners with indefinite permanent residence above 14 and below 18).

Foreign police may ask you to submit a document about your accommodation and an affidavit to confirm that the reason for permanent residence is still valid.

The authorities will make a decision within 90 days from the date when you submit a complete application. The fee for submitting an application for permanent residence permit is165,50 euros. A management fee of 4.50 euros * is required for issuing a permanent residence certificate (that is, an ID card).

Before your decision to apply for indefinite permanent residence was issued, your five-year permanent residence in Slovakia was considered legal.

If you apply for material welfare, the foreign police will cancel your permanent residency indefinitely!

You can apply for indefinite long-term residence if you meet the following conditions:

? Before submitting the application, you have legally lived in Slovakia for at least 5 consecutive years; ? You have been legally and continuously residing in a member state of the European Union for 5 years as a blue card holder, and lived in Slovakia as a blue card holder for at least 2 years before submitting your application; ? Before you get the long-term residency in another EU member state, your long-term residency has expired because you have lived outside Slovakia for 6 years or because you have lived outside the EU for 12 or 24 months. The application for long-term residence must be submitted to the competent foreign police station in your place of residence in person in the official form of Slovakia. You must do this before the last day of the validity period of your current residence. The application must also submit the following materials: A valid passport; ? Two color photos (33.5 cm); ? Documents proving fixed income and fixed income; ? Documents proving your health insurance.

The authorities will make a decision within 90 days from the date when you submit a complete application. A management fee of 4.50 euros * is required for issuing a permanent residence certificate (that is, an ID card). Your stay in Slovakia is considered legal until your application for permanent residence is decided.

Generally speaking, you are obliged to leave the country before the last day of permanent residence. If the foreign police refuse your application for permanent residence indefinitely or cancel your permanent residence, you are obliged to leave the country within 30 days after the decision takes effect.

If you find yourself in a situation where you can't leave Slovakia and you don't meet the conditions for granting other types of residence, you can apply for such residence. The longest period is 180 days, and you can apply for repeated extension. Permitting residence right means giving you the right to live in Slovakia and China during the granting period, and you can also work. However, it does not grant you the right to conduct business.

You can apply for such residence under the following circumstances:

? You are a minor child found in Slovakia and China; ? Out of respect for your private and family life, and you do not endanger national security or public order, you must submit a summary of the criminal registration of your country of nationality and your country of residence in the last three years. More than 90 days for 6 consecutive months); ? It stems from Slovakia's international commitments.

If you are applying for asylum, the police will not accept your application.

This type of residence application must be submitted to the competent foreign police station in your place of residence in person in the official form of Slovakia. The application must be submitted together with written reasons and documents proving the reasons for granting tolerant residence. At the time of application, the management fees of 99.50 euros * and 33 euros * are required when applying for extension.

In the following cases, the criminal authorities apply for tolerant residence on your behalf:

? You are a victim of human trafficking, over 18 years old;

? You are illegally employed under particularly exploitative working conditions, or you are an illegally employed minor.

If you can't leave Slovakia without a valid visa or residence permit for special reasons, the agency may approve it. You can stay in Slovakia until these reasons are over. However, according to the Slovak Alien Residence Act, residence in Slovakia is not considered as residence. This means that during your stay in Slovakia, you have no right to apply for invitation verification, grant temporary or permanent residency, work or do business. You can stay in Slovakia for the following time:

? There are obstacles to administrative expulsion; ? Providing institutional care related to emergency medical care; ? There are isolation measures; ? Detention, custody, execution of imprisonment or house arrest; ? Departure time; ? Detention; ? Prepare to assist in voluntary return; ? Prepare and execute administrative expulsion, or return according to specific regulations.

In the case of institutional care or isolation measures, you can stay in Slovakia only if your stay in Slovakia is still legal. At the same time, you must leave Slovak territory within three days after the termination of institutional care or isolation measures.
