The Historical Evolution of Shangli Town

Shangli Town has a long history. According to the records of the remaining cultural relics in China, the ancient town was originally named "Luo Sheng", which means the post station and gateway on its ancient road and the gateway to Bashu Plain.

In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, due to the increase of population, the economy of the ancient town became increasingly prosperous, and it was renamed "Wujiakou" with five surnames. Today, the five families still have their own strengths, namely: Yang Jiazi (official), Han Jiayin (rich in business), Chen Jiazi (rich in grain fields), Xu Jianv (beautiful) and Zhang.

After liberation, according to the direction of Longxi River, the township where the upper reaches are located is classified as Shangli. According to historical records, the population of the ancient town was under the jurisdiction of Yandao County from Han Dynasty to Sui Dynasty, Lin Qiong County at the end of Sui Dynasty, and then Yazhou Prefecture. West Shu was called "Southwest Yi" in ancient times, and this treasure land was developed. From the pre-Qin period to the Ming and Qing dynasties, there were several large-scale immigration activities, such as Zhao Chenguo came to Bashu after Qin destroyed Zhao, moved Chu subjects to Tsing Yi in the Han Dynasty, and another large-scale migration from Huguang to Sichuan in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties.

The early ethnic groups in Shangli were concentrated, mainly the local Bashu ethnic group-Qingyi Qiang. Due to the continuous prosperity of the Southern Silk Road, foreign nationalities often come here to settle down. They integrated the advanced Central Plains culture and overseas culture into a unified Chinese culture, leaving us with cultural relics and historic sites all over the town, so that tourists often fall into the historical sea of Wang Yang. Shangli Town is located in the north of Yucheng District, Ya 'an City, Sichuan Province. Historically, it was an important post station of the Southern Silk Road, and in modern times it was a transit place for the Red Army. The ancient town has a long history and culture and a unique natural ecological environment. It has 8 provincial and municipal cultural relics protection units, and has been rated as a famous historical and cultural town in Sichuan Province, an old revolutionary base area and "Top Ten Ancient Towns in Sichuan Province".

There is a poem in ancient times: "Two rivers and one mirror, two bridges fall into the rainbow", which is an overall description of the vivid image of Shangli ancient town. In the ancient town surrounded by two rivers, buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties are patchwork and ancient trees are towering. There are many cultural relics from the Tang and Song Dynasties on the ancient tea-horse road, and modern Red Army stone slogans can be seen everywhere.
