The Historical Origin of Anyang Dialect

Since modern times, Hong Tong's migration in Shaanxi has had a great influence on Anyang dialect in the early Ming Dynasty. During the period of Mongolian and Yuan Dynasties, there was a great loss of population in northern China. Counting the population of North China in the early Ming Dynasty, the population of Henan, Shandong and Hebei provinces (3 million people) is not as good as that of Shanxi Province (4 million people). At that time, a large number of Shanxi immigrants moved to Anyang, and the classification of Anyang dialect into Jin dialect may have a lot to do with that immigration.
