The difference between the Senate and the House of Representatives

One is the House of Representatives, which implements proportional representation to protect the interests of the majority. One is the Senate, which implements the system of average representation and protects the interests of the minority.

In order to show fairness, the number of members of the US House of Representatives is based on the population division of each state. There are currently 435 members. Generally speaking, the more populous States, the more seats in the House of Representatives, and the heavier the right to speak.

In order to show equality, each state in the United States Senate has only two seats, and now there are 100 members. In other words, whether it is a big state or a small state, they all have the same voice in the Senate. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives are American legislatures. However, due to the different interests of representatives, the legislative division of labor is also different.

Generally speaking, senior federal officials nominated by the president need to be approved by the Senate before they can be formally appointed. All kinds of treaties signed by the federal government, including foreign treaties, must also be approved by the Senate before they can take effect. In terms of impeachment power, impeachment initiated by the House of Representatives needs the approval of the Senate before it can be officially launched.
