How did the Japanese husband immigrate to China?

Foreigners cannot be naturalized in China, but they can apply for a permanent residence permit for foreigners.

The following are the conditions and requirements for foreign spouses to apply for permanent residence in the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on the Administration of Entry and Exit of Foreigners.

Spouses of China citizens or foreigners who have obtained permanent residence in China have been married for five years, have lived in China for five years continuously, and have lived in China for not less than nine months every year, and have stable living security and residence;

At the time of application, the person must also submit the permanent residence certificate of the spouse of one of them or the permanent residence certificate of the foreigner of his foreign spouse, marriage certificate, notarized living guarantee certificate and house lease or property right certificate. The above-mentioned certificates issued by relevant foreign institutions shall be certified by Chinese embassies and consulates in that country.
