The origin of place names

Gushi County is the core area of Guo in the pre-Qin period, and its capital is in the northeast of Gushi City, so Gushi is called "Guo City" and "Guo Capital" for short.

In the second year of Jianwu in the Eastern Han Dynasty (26 years), Guangwu Emperor Liu Xiu named Li Tong as the "strong beginning", and the core area of the fief of Gushi Hou ("Gushi Hou Guo") is in today's Gushi. Since then, the place names of Gushi have been used for nearly two thousand years.
