Functions of Tingxia Reservoir

Tingxia Reservoir is a national second-level water conservancy project mainly for flood control and irrigation, combined with comprehensive utilization of power generation, water supply, breeding, tourism, etc. It is a key project in the Fenghua River Basin Management Plan. The project started in 1978 and was completed in 1985. On November 4, 2004, the second expert meeting on the safety appraisal of the Tingxia Reservoir Dam was held at the Hangzhou Provincial Department of Water Resources. Through the appraisal, it was determined that the Tingxia Reservoir Dam was a Category II dam. The crest of the Tingxia Reservoir dam is 317 meters long, with a maximum dam height of 76.5 meters and a crest elevation of 93.05 meters. There is a 6-hole 8-meter spillway on the top of the dam with a maximum discharge flow of 3,580 cubic meters per second. The power station has an installed capacity of 4,000 kilowatts and a designed multi-year average power generation of 11.22 million kilowatt hours. The water collection area of ??the controlled basin is 176 square kilometers and the total storage capacity is 150.24 million cubic meters. It is a large-scale water conservancy project with multi-year regulation. The reservoir has a forest area of ??13,498 acres, most of which are ecological conservation forests. Over the past 20 years since its establishment, the reservoir has detained floods more than 30 times and resisted droughts more than 10 times, playing an important role in the socio-economic development of the downstream. In addition, it also provides urban industrial and domestic water to Ningbo City.

Below the reservoir protection dam site, there are about 150,000 people in Xikou Town, Xiaowangmiao and Jiangkou Street, 100,000 acres of farmland on both sides of the Yanjiang River, and the Ningbo-Wenzhou Expressway. Cooperate with the Hengshan and Jiaokou Reservoir projects to provide irrigation and urban water supply for a total of 674,000 acres of farmland in Fenghua City, southeastern Yinzhou District, and Zhenhai District, and reduce the threat of flooding in more than 400,000 acres of farmland in the Yinfeng Plain. It is a large (2) type water conservancy project focusing on flood control and irrigation, combined with comprehensive utilization of power generation, water supply, breeding, tourism, etc. It is one of the three major water conservancy projects in the Fenghua River Basin.
