Jefferson's merits and demerits
Thomas Jefferson (1April 74313-1July 4, 826) was the third president of the United States of America (180 1 year-1809). At the same time, he is also the main drafter of the American Declaration of Independence and one of the most influential American Founding Fathers. The major events during his term of office included the Louisiana Land Purchase Case (1803), the Embargo Act 1807, and the Lewis and Clark Adventure Case (1804–1806).
As a political scientist, Jefferson supported classical liberalism and republicanism, and enacted the Virginia Religious Freedom Act (1779, 1786). This law later became the basis of the First Amendment to the American Constitution, and Jefferson-style democracy was named after him. He founded and led the Democratic Party, which became the predecessor of today's Democratic Party and ruled American politics for a quarter of a century. Jefferson was the second governor of Virginia (1779- 178 1 year), the first secretary of state of the United States (1789- 1793) and the second vice president of the United States (1797-).
In addition to his political career, Jefferson was an expert in agriculture, horticulture, architecture, etymology, archaeology, mathematics, cryptography, surveying and paleontology. He is also a writer, lawyer and violinist; Founder of the University of Virginia. Many people think that he is the cleverest of all American presidents.
He abolished domestic taxes, attached importance to the development of agriculture and safeguarded the national economy. 1on March 4, 805, Jefferson was re-elected president of the United States. 1807 signed an embargo bill to suspend trade relations with the belligerents of the Napoleonic wars, so that the neutrality of the United States was respected. The slave trade was banned in 1808. 1809, Jefferson retired to Monticello and lived in the house he designed. In his later years, he devoted himself to studying architectural engineering, philosophy, paleontology and natural science. A three-level education system has also been established. 18 12 ~ 1825, he personally planned and built the university of Virginia and served as the first president of the school.
Jefferson was studious, versatile and had a wide range of interests. He is a land surveyor, architect, paleontologist, philosopher, phonologist and writer. He knows Latin, Greek, French, Spanish and Italian. He is also interested in mathematics, agriculture and architecture, and even the violin. People call him the most talented and versatile president of the United States. Jefferson wrote many things in his life, covering a wide range of issues. Later generations published his anthology in 20 volumes in memory of him. As an outstanding representative of American bourgeois democrats, Jefferson is as famous as Washington and Lincoln.
Jefferson was not only an outstanding thinker, but also an outstanding politician. As a public servant of the people and a national leader, he showed many noble qualities. No matter the governor or the president, he has no sense of personal honor, no desire for power, and no desire to seek personal gain by taking advantage of his position. He just feels that his personal responsibility has increased. How to perform his duties, how to benefit the people and how to maintain democracy are his priority issues and the direction of his efforts.
Although he is a scholar and thinker, once he stepped into politics, he devoted all his energy to practical work, engaged in concrete work in a down-to-earth manner, and really enjoyed sleeping at night and eating snacks. He opposes putting on airs and showing off. During his presidency, he advocated the civilian style and swept away the remnants of various monarchies of his predecessor. He treats everyone equally. In the cabinet, he never pretends to be the chief executive, nor does he act arbitrarily.
As the head of state, he takes it as his duty to safeguard democracy, abide by the law and discipline, do everything according to the constitution, and never let the administrative organs override the people's representative organs. He is honest and upright, sets an example and forbids it. In his life, he never took part in any speculative activities, and considered it a shame to take part in such activities.
He never plays with political intrigues, does not intrigue, and everything is aboveboard.
He worked hard all his life, constantly striving for self-improvement, never rested after retirement, longed for public interests and justice, cared about state affairs, and was particularly enthusiastic about education. He did his best to establish the University of Virginia.
Jefferson was a real public servant.
