History of Dalian

The name Dalian comes from Dalian Bay. Dalian Bay was first seen in Li Hongzhang's memorial to Emperor Guangxu in 1879. At the beginning of the 20th century, after the city scale was formed on the west coast of Dalian Bay, it was transplanted into the city name.

After the establishment of the Republic of China, Fuxian County and Zhuanghe County successively belonged to the Beiyang Warlord [Fengcian] government and the Nanjing National Government. In February 1913, the government of the Republic of China changed Jinzhou Hall to Jin County, Fuzhou to Fuxian County, and Zhuanghe Hall to Zhuanghe County, all of which were affiliated to Fengtian Province. The following year, it was placed under the jurisdiction of Dongbian Road, Fengtian Province, and in March 1925, it was renamed under the jurisdiction of Liaoshen Road. In February 1929, Fengtian Province was renamed Liaoning Province, the road system was abolished, and Jin County, Fuxian County and Zhuanghe County were all under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province. Due to Japanese occupation, China was unable to exercise sovereignty over the area south of Jin County. After the fall of Northeast China in 1931, Fuxian County and Zhuanghe County were placed under the jurisdiction of Fengtian and Andong Provinces of the Puppet Manchukuo State respectively until the collapse of the Puppet Manchukuo State in August 1945. The present Zhongshan Square in 1917 and the Qingniwa Bridge in 1930. After Japan invaded and occupied the Dalian area, its colonial governance institutions changed frequently. The period from May 1904 to August 1906 was the military and political period. Five military and political offices including Jinzhou, Dalian, Fuzhou, Qingniwa, and Lushun were established, as well as the Liaodong garrison headquarters. In May 1905, the Garrison Army Headquarters was changed to the Manchurian Military Depot Supervision Department, the Military and Administrative Office was abolished, and the Guandong Prefecture Civil Affairs Office was established in June, with three civil affairs branches: Dalian, Jinzhou and Brigade. The Guandong Governor-General's Palace was moved from Liaoyang to Lushun in May 1906. The period from September 1906 to April 1919 was the period of the Kanto Governor's Office. During this period, Japan established the Guandong Governor's Office in Lushun, with the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of War under it. The Ministry of Civil Affairs has three civil affairs offices: Dalian, Lushun and Jinzhou. In October 1908, the Jinzhou Civil Affairs Bureau was reduced to the Civil Affairs Support Bureau. The period from April 1911 to December 1934 was the period of the Guandong Hall. During this period, the former Central Army Department of the Kwantung Governor's Office separated and established the Kwantung Army Headquarters [initially established in Lushun, Huang, moved to Fengtian, and then moved to Changchun; the Ministry of Civil Affairs was renamed the Guandong Hall. At this point, the Kwantung Army Headquarters, the Kwantung Agency and the South Manchuria Railway Co., Ltd. [established in August 1906] became Japan's three major invasion forces that ruled Luda and controlled Northeast China. After August 1919, the Civil Affairs Branch Offices of Jinzhou, Piziwo and Pulandian changed several times, and by October 1930 they were all Civil Affairs Superintendents. The period from December 1934 to August 1945 was the Kwantung Bureau period. During the period, the Japanese Abandoned Guandong Department established the Guandong State Department, which consisted of five civil affairs offices: Dalian, Lushun, Jinzhou, Piziwo, and Pulandian, and two cities: Dalian and Lushun. Later, in April 1938, it was changed to 2 cities and 4 Civil Affairs Bureaus, and the Dalian Civil Affairs Bureau was abolished until Japan surrendered in August 1945.

On August 22, 1945, the Soviet army stationed at Luda University in accordance with the "Sino-Soviet Treaty of Friendship and Alliance". On November 8 of the same year, the Dalian Municipal Government was established, consisting of the Central District, Heizuizi, Nanshan, Xigang, Shahekou, Liujiatun, Siergou, Laohutan, Malantun, Xinggepu, Xianglutun and Ganjingzi 12 district. The suburbs are divided into six districts: Gezhenbao, Nanguanling, Yingchengzi, Luanjiatun, Xiaopingdao and Qinggou. In 1937, the current Tianjin Street was established as Lushun City on November 25 of the same year, with 6 districts under its jurisdiction; on December 16 of the same year, Jin County Government was established, with 8 districts under its jurisdiction. Dalian County Government was established on January 30, 1946. On October 23 of the same year, the Luda Jin Administrative Joint Office was established as the temporary highest authority in Dalian at that time, with unified jurisdiction over Dalian City, Lushun City, Jin County and Dalian County. On April 4, 1947, the Kanto Office was established, the Ludajin Administrative Joint Office was abolished, and the jurisdiction remained unchanged. On April 27, 1949, the Guandong Office was changed to the Luda Administrative Office, and its jurisdiction remained unchanged. During the War of Liberation, Xinjin County Government was established on September 25, 1945, under the jurisdiction of Andong Province. In November, it was transferred to the Fifth District of Andong Province. In August 1946, it was changed to the Fifth District of Liaonan Administrative Office. In August 1948, it was changed to the Fifth District of Liaonan Administrative Office. It belongs to Liaoning Province and was changed to Liaodong Province in May 1949.
