About the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom War, Weng City in Nagato was destroyed, leaving the inner city and Taocheng. 1927 During the construction, the Works Bureau of the Municipal Preparatory Office demolished Jicheng and the original narrow old city gate. 1934, the Romanesque building in Jinmen was converted into a city gate. After the reconstruction, there are three Nagato with lanes in the middle and sidewalks on both sides. Nagato Watertown Gate is in the north of Inner City Gate, across Tangjie River. At the beginning of liberation, there was a wooden door, which was demolished in the 1950s. Now only the foundation of Shuicheng Gate is left. Including Nanhao Street outside the city, Shangtang Street and Shantang Street outside Nanhao Street today, and Nagato Street in the city (now Xi Zhong). Parallel to these streets are the Outer City River, Inner City River, Shangtang River (the ancient channel of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal) and Shantang River (leading to Tiger Hill), which converge here from five directions. The famous paintings in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the prosperous picture of Gusu and the pregnant picture of the prosperous times all show the grand occasion of the ten-mile long street from Nagato to Qiao Feng at that time. At that time, there were as many as tens of thousands of shops here, and all walks of life had everything, and there were constant disputes among provincial halls. In the Qing Dynasty, Sun Jiagan described Nagato in "A Journey to the South": "Goods are like mountains, pedestrians are flowing, signboards are listed, and they are magnificent." A Dream of Red Mansions begins by saying that "Nagato is the most prosperous and romantic place in the world of mortals." Tang Yin's poem "Nagato is Things" in the Ming Dynasty wrote: "Wuzhong is a paradise on earth, and Nagato is better at it. Cui Sleeve is 3,000 yuan upstairs and downstairs, and millions of dollars are in the west and east. When the market is selling in the evening, there are always four far words. If a painter paints, the painter should know that painting is difficult. " Therefore, Nagato became synonymous with Suzhou at that time. At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, the population of southern Jiangsu migrated to northern Jiangsu on a large scale, and these immigrants all claimed to be Suzhou's master.
