Immigration policy

The Estonian Immigration Service on Wednesday approved pre- and entry-level COVID-19 testing procedures for travelers from high-risk countries. The new policy will go into effect on Friday, January 15th.

From January 15, countries with a 14-day coronavirus infection rate of more than 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants will be defined as high-risk countries. Passengers arriving from European countries do not need to self-isolate if their country's 14-day new coronavirus infection rate is less than 150.

The Irish government decided to harmonize the rules between Latvia, Lithuania and Finland and other countries. If self-isolation is required, arrivals from Latvia, Lithuania and Finland must now also undergo a COVID-19 test within 72 hours before entry.

From January 15, arrivals from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland must quarantine for 10 days and undergo two tests. Children under 12 years old do not need to undergo nucleic acid tests.
