The origin of Longhui

Longhui County was established relatively late. The area under its jurisdiction originally belonged to Shaoyang, Wugang and Xinhua counties and a part of Xupu county under the jurisdiction of Chenzhou area, mainly Shaoyang county. In the thirty-sixth year of the Republic of China (1947) 65438+1October 3 1, the Hunan provincial government issued a directive 14 1 to analyze the newly-built Longhui County in Shaoyang County, including Longhui, Longzhi, Zhonghe, Guo Sheng and Xisheng.

On August 1 day of that year, Longhui County Government was formally established, and Liuduzhai was established in the county. 1949 10, Longhui was liberated, Longhui County People's Government was established, and Taohuaping was established in the county. Since then, most of Ziyang Township and Shijiang Township in Wugang and Xiping, Gaoping, Luohong and Tian Miao in Xinhua County, Yanertang Township, Miaoshanping and Lumaodang in Xupu County have been included, and the county names remain unchanged.

Of course, county names have also been widely discussed. Some people advocated using the ancient county names Gaoping and Douliang, but it was denied because the ancient county was far away from Liuduzhai, where Longhui County was located at that time. It has also been suggested that Wei Yuan and Cai E be named after counties, while others suggested that they be named after Wang Yun, Zibei and Zibin. These were not adopted and finally named "Longhui".

Longhui county

Longhui County, which belongs to Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, is located in the upper reaches of Zijiang River in the southwest of central Hunan. Xinshao County is in the east, Shaoyang County and Wugang City in the south, Dongkou County in the west and Pu Shu and Xinhua County in the north. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The northwest is the remnant vein of Xuefeng Mountain, and the elevation of baimashan, the main peak, is1780m. The southeast is a typical hilly and mountainous area with criss-crossing hills and rivers.

The main minerals are placer gold, coal, niobium, tantalum, Iceland spar, monazite, beryl and zircon. The county has jurisdiction over 2 streets, 18 towns and 5 townships. The total population of the county is 1009778(2020).
