In the Qin Dynasty, Lingnan and Southwest China were the areas where people lived today.

There are two counties in southwest Qin: Ba County and Shu County. Baxian county is roughly equivalent to Chongqing and eastern Sichuan today, and Shu county is a small part of eastern Sichuan today, and a small part of northern Sichuan, southern Sichuan and western Sichuan (Ya 'an and Ganzi).

Lingnan area in Qin Dynasty was called "Lingnan Three Counties" in Nanhai, Guilin and Xiang Jun. It borders Wuling in the north and south, Yunnan and Guizhou in the south and Fujian in the east, covering most of Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi and northern Vietnam today. After the Song Dynasty, northern Vietnam was separated. Wuling not only refers to the names of five mountains, but also includes five passages through Nanling.
