Brief introduction of Songhuaba Reservoir

Songhuaba Reservoir was built in 1958. After reinforcement and expansion in 1995, the designed total storage capacity is 2? 1.9 billion cubic meters, with a storage capacity of 1? 5 billion cubic meters. In recent five years, the average daily water supply is 45, cubic meters, accounting for more than 5% of the daily water supply in Kunming city. It is the main project of flood control and drinking water source in the main city of Kunming. The water quality safety of Songhuaba Reservoir is directly related to the safety and social stability of Kunming city. Since 1991, the water quality of Songhuaba Reservoir has fluctuated between Class II and III. Since 1996, all of them are Class III. Although they meet the requirements of national centralized drinking water sources, the primary and secondary total nitrogen indexes in the monthly monitoring values of each year all exceed Class III standards. If management and protection are not strengthened immediately, the water quality will further deteriorate.
