In 2003, Chongming county was included in the development plan of "one city and nine towns" in Shanghai, and Dongtan plot was also included. Then the plot was put aside from the plan, and Shang Shi decided to re-plan.

At the end of 2004, SIC invited McKinsey as a strategic consultant to start global bidding for the project planning of Dongtan Start-up Area 12.5 km2 of Southern Eco-City. More than a dozen companies, including Phlip Johnson of the United States, studio of France, art jeans and ARUP of the United Kingdom, participated in the bidding.

On June 5438+1October 2 1 day, 2005, the senior management of Irish real estate company Wealth Holding Group announced that it would cooperate with SIC to develop Dongtan project, with an investment of1200 million euros.

In July, Arup won the bid for the planning scheme. However, Arup only provides consulting reports, and the statutory texts of overall structural planning and regulatory detailed planning must be compiled by Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Institute.

On June 4th, 2005, Shanghai Urban Planning Administration officially approved the overall structural planning of Shanghai Chongming Dongtan reported by SIIC.

On June 9, 2005, Dongtan Investment and Development Company and Arup signed the planning project of Dongtan Eco-city in London. Arup will provide consulting reports for the main planning of the first phase of Dongtan Eco-city, including urban planning and design, sustainable energy management and waste recycling management.

Business Weekly published in June 5438+February 2005 named Dongtan Project as one of the top ten new architectural wonders in China, together with the Bird's Nest, National Grand Theatre and T3 Terminal.

On February 24th, 2006, British Deputy Prime Minister John Prestel attended the signing ceremony of Dongtan renewable energy power station project.

From June 5, 2007 to 10, the regulatory detailed planning of Dongtan start-up area was officially approved by Shanghai Urban Planning Administration.

On June 5438+ 10, 2008, British Prime Minister Brown visited Shanghai, and Shanghai Industrial Group, Tongji University, Arup, HSBC and the Office for Sustainable Development (SDCL) signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Design, Implementation and Financing of Sustainable Eco-city Projects in China. SIIC subsequently announced that the Dongtan Eco-city project will start in the second half of that year, and the first phase of the project will be completed before the 20 10 World Expo, with a construction area of 400,000 to 500,000 square meters, including a residential demonstration area that can accommodate 1 10,000 residents.

In June 2008, Cai Laixing, the chairman of SIC who advocated Dongtan Project, retired.

On June 5438+ 10, 2008, Ma Chengliang, the operator of Dongtan Project and chairman of Silicon Carbide Development, resigned and was transferred to Silicon Carbide Group.

In February 2009, with the shelving of Langfang Eco-city project, Dong Shanfeng, Jiang Li and others, the main members of the original Dongtan team, left one after another.
