The origin and history of Ma surname

Ma surname mainly comes from the surname won, the surname zi and the surname changed by ethnic minorities. Zhao She, the imperial clan of Zhao, is the ancestor of Ma. Because of its fief, it was called Mafu County (located in the northwest of Handan). Later generations of Zhao She took Mafu as their surname and later changed it to Ma.

Handan is the birthplace of Ma surname in China, with Feng Jun as the main county and Tongzhutang as the main hall number. Mainly distributed in most of Ningxia, most of Gansu, eastern Qinghai, western Inner Mongolia and Urumqi, Xinjiang.

Horses began to move in southern Hebei, immigrated to Shaanxi in the early Qin Dynasty, and developed in Xingping (Fufeng Ancient Land) in Shaanxi. By the Northern and Southern Dynasties, horses had been distributed in vast areas north and southwest of the Yangtze River. The distribution in China is mainly concentrated in Shandong, Shanxi, Henan and Hebei, which account for about 52. 1% of the total population in China.
