This paper interprets this legend with texts and folk customs, and holds that this legend has a factual background. The source of the story is not in Nanjing. In Madigou, Xigou Township, Minhe Hui and Tu Autonomous County, Qinghai Province, the performance of Mulian Opera hosted by Nengren Temple, a Buddhist temple in the Han Dynasty, is the source of legend spread, and the social fire in Hehuang area is the main carrier of legend spread. These periodic cultural activities, through their unique missionary function, make a symbol of religious memory form a circle of influence of Chinese culture and make all ethnic groups in Hehuang believe in history.
