Remarriage and household registration process

1. Submit an application for settlement to the local police station where the man is located, and the police station will issue an acceptance certificate.

2. After the police station meets the immigration conditions, the police station will issue a certificate of permission to move in. The validity period of the immigration permit is 40 days. If it expires, you can go to the public security bureau for an extension.

3. Give the certificate of permission to move in to the police station where the woman is located, and the police station where the woman is located agrees to move out and cancel the account.

4. With the marriage certificate and the woman's household registration book, go to the woman's police station to change the marital status to "remarriage" and issue a "household registration certificate".

5. Hold the household registration book of both parties, ID cards of both men and women, marriage certificate, woman's household registration certificate, and man's village (neighborhood) committee certificate, fill in the household application at the man's police station and report it to the Public Security Bureau for approval.

6. After all the formalities are passed, a new household registration book will be given and a new ID card will be needed.

After divorce or marriage registration: the marital status will not be automatically displayed in the personal account book, and the Civil Affairs Bureau will not take the initiative to inform the police station of divorce or marriage registration. If you don't go to the public security organ to change the marital status of your hukou, show your previous marital status; If the divorce certificate is submitted to the public security organ to change the marital status of the household registration book, it shows "divorce". If you want to change the marital status in the household registration book after divorce, you need the parties to apply to the local police station for changing the marital status in the household registration book to divorce with their ID cards, household registration books and divorce certificates.

The provisions for divorce parties to apply for remarriage registration are as follows:

1. Divorced China citizens apply for remarriage in China. If their previous marriage relationship was dissolved by judicial procedures in foreign countries according to local laws, their divorce documents must be recognized by the people's court of our country;

2. If his previous marriage relationship was registered for divorce in a foreign marriage registry, the divorce certificate does not need to be recognized by the people's court of China, but it must be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the authorized agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where he lives, as well as by the embassy or consulate of China in that country.
