How to marry a foreigner?

Provisions on the Registration of Marriages between China Citizens and Foreigners. According to this regulation, if a China citizen marries a foreigner (including a foreigner residing in China or temporarily coming to China, a foreign Chinese and a foreigner residing in China) in China, both men and women must apply for registration with the marriage registration authority designated by the people's government of the province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government where the China citizen resides. When applying for registration, the parties concerned shall hold the following documents:

China citizen: 1, my household registration certificate; 2. My name, gender, date of birth, nationality and marital status (unmarried, divorced, widowed; The same below); Occupation, nature of work, and proof of the person you are applying for marriage.

Foreigners: 1, my passport or other identification and nationality certificates; 2. Alien Residence Permit issued by China's public security organs, or identity certificate issued by the foreign affairs department, or temporary entry and residence certificate in China; 3. A certificate of marital status issued by a notary public in China and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (or an organ authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Chinese embassy or consulate in that country, or a certificate of marital status issued by the Chinese embassy or consulate in that country.

Foreigners: 1, and my passport or passport will be reissued with proof of identity and nationality (except stateless persons); 2. A foreigner's residence permit issued by China's public security organs; 3. Proof of my name, gender, date of birth, marital status, occupation, and the person applying for marriage issued by the people's government at the county level where my household registration is located or the organs, schools, institutions and enterprises at or above the county level where I work.

In addition, both men and women who apply for marriage must also submit the pre-marital health examination certificate issued by the hospital designated by the marriage registration authority and the photos of both men and women.

Upon examination by the marriage registration authority, the marriage application with complete documents mentioned above meets the marriage conditions stipulated in the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China and the provisions do not prohibit China citizens from marrying foreigners, so they are allowed to get married, go through the registration formalities within one month and issue a marriage certificate.

Some Provisions on Marriage Registration between China Citizens and Foreigners

1. If China citizens and foreigners (including foreigners residing or temporarily residing in China, overseas Chinese and foreigners residing in China) voluntarily get married in China, both men and women must apply for registration with the marriage registration authority designated by the people's government of the province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government where China citizens are registered.

2. Both men and women applying for marriage registration must abide by the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China and the relevant provisions of these Provisions.

3. China citizens and foreigners applying for marriage registration shall hold the following documents:

I. Citizens of China:

(a) my household registration certificate;

(2) A certificate issued by the people's government at the county level where I live or by an organ, school, institution or enterprise at or above the county level where I work, showing my name, gender, date of birth, nationality, marital status (unmarried, divorced, widowed, the same below), occupation, nature of work and with whom I applied for marriage.

B, foreigners:

(1) My passport or other identification and nationality certificates;

(2) A foreigner's residence permit issued by the public security organ, or an identity certificate issued by the foreign affairs department, or a certificate of temporary entry and residence in China;

(3) A certificate of marital status issued by a notary office in China certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (or an organ authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Chinese embassies and consulates in that country; Or a certificate of marital status issued by embassies and consulates in China.

C. foreign citizens:

(a) my passport or passport identity and nationality certificate (except stateless persons);

(2) Alien residence permit issued by the public security organ;

(3) A certificate of my name, gender, date of birth, marital status, occupation and the person applying for marriage issued by the people's government at the county level where my domicile is located or by an organ, school, institution or enterprise at or above the county level where my work unit is located.

In addition, both men and women who apply for marriage must also submit the pre-marital health examination certificate issued by the hospital designated by the marriage registration authority.

Four, the following China citizens are not allowed to marry foreigners:

(1) Soldiers, diplomats, public security personnel, secret-keeping personnel and other personnel who hold major secrets;

(2) Persons who are undergoing reeducation through labor and serving sentences.
