Why are most Commonwealth countries relatively rich?

Let me talk about my personal opinion.

The rich countries in the Commonwealth are mainly Anglo-Saxons who believe in Protestantism, which is a branch of Catholicism. These countries are: Britain, the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Other regions are much worse, such as India and some countries in Africa, which are still very poor.

Throughout history, when we sigh that some countries in the Commonwealth are rich, we should also see that the essence of their wealth is the industrialization ability of the Anglo-Saxon people, which is the foundation of their wealth!

However, their industrialization ability comes from the secularization of this nation. The Anglo-Saxons got rid of the shackles of religion long ago. In the process of development, it first entered the process of industrialization and became the first region to enter the industrialized society.

The reason why Britain can get rid of religion is also closely related to their geography. Britain lived outside Europe and was introduced to the British Isles very late when Christianity expanded. Christianity itself has no strong foundation in Britain. In addition, the Vatican cannot expand its influence in Britain.

After early development, in the Middle Ages, although Catholicism in Christianity controlled the central and western parts of Europe, the Holy See kept fighting with the European powers: the early and holy Roman Empire, and later with the French Kingdom. European powers prevented the Vatican from expanding its influence, especially France, which faces the British Isles across the sea, and has always occupied an advantageous position in the struggle against the Vatican.

For example, as early as the14th century, the French defeated the Holy See and produced the famous "prisoner of avignon" in history, which made the Holy See lose face. The victory of the French prevented the Roman Catholic Church from exerting greater influence on the British Isles. Later, after France won the Hundred Years' War between Britain and France, Britain was completely independent from Europe. The European continent was more like another world to them, although everyone believed in the same God.

Shortly after the end of the Middle Ages, the whole Europe set off a religious reform movement. At that time, various places were very dissatisfied with the Vatican and formed different factions. Britain also joined the movement, but the Anglo-Saxons not only carried out the religious reform, they directly ate all the forces of Catholicism in Britain! Since then, the Catholic leader in Britain is no longer the Pope, but the king of England.

Without the intervention of the Holy See, the religious development in Britain was entirely decided by themselves, and the so-called "Puritans" soon appeared. After these people appeared, they further called for the reform of Catholicism. Although some radicals were persecuted and moved to North America, the local religious reform in Britain was also imperative. At this point, the Anglo-Saxons became more secular.

Secular society has cleared the way for the rise of the new bourgeoisie. With Britain gradually becoming an "imperial empire", Anglo-Saxons also spread all over the world, and the vast territory put forward very high requirements for productivity, forcing capitalists to seek technological innovation to support market demand. The industrial revolution has appeared on the horizon like the rising sun.

Britain took the lead in completing industrialization and became the first country to enter industrialization. Driven by it, all parts of the Commonwealth have developed rapidly, such as India. The Anglo-Saxons attacked other regions with the sharp weapon of industrialization, and the scissors effect of trade made wealth flow into Britain and its controlled areas continuously. As long as their leaders develop the country normally, the overall wealth will far exceed that of other parts of the world.
