Immigrating to Hong Kong on a work visa

First, study and work visas need to last for seven consecutive years. After seven years, you can apply for permanent resident status with the Immigration Bureau.

Second, you don't have to obtain Hong Kong permanent resident status to settle in Hong Kong. As long as you meet the following conditions, you are considered to be settled (settlement is immigration)

1. Obtain Hong Kong permanent resident status

2. Obtain unconditional Hong Kong non-permanent resident status.

Third, mainland parents who want to settle in Hong Kong and Macao need the approval of the mainland authorities-the Ministry of Public Security. Parents of Hong Kong and Macao residents who meet the following conditions may apply to settle in Hong Kong and Macao.

1. At least 70 years old.

2. Need the care of Hong Kong and Macao residents, only children from Hong Kong and Macao can take care of them.
