According to the "Regulations on Determining the Ethnic Composition of China Citizens" formulated by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and other relevant departments,

Individuals whose ethnic composition meets one of the following conditions can apply for changing their ethnic composition: at least 18 years of age, parents have different ethnic composition, and parents request to change from one parent to the other; 18 years old but under the 20th anniversary, the original basis was changed from one parent to the other because the ethnic composition of both parents is different; At the age of 20, my parents are both ethnic minorities. Because of going out to work and other reasons, the ethnic composition was wrongly filled as Han nationality, and now I am willing to rely on my father or mother.

Individuals who meet the conditions for changing ethnic composition should submit a written application and proof of their parents' ethnic composition (household registration book), which will be verified by the personnel department of the unit or the neighborhood office of their place of residence and the township people's government, and then declare to the local ethnic work department at the county level, and send an application form after preliminary verification. The ethnic work departments at the county level, prefecture level and provincial level shall verify, examine and approve the application for changing ethnic composition once every quarter. After the applicant's application is approved, he/she shall go through the formalities of changing the ethnic composition at the local police station with the certificate. Without a certificate, the police station will not go through the formalities. In the migration and replacement of household registration books and census statistics, if the ethnic composition is incorrectly filled in due to negligence, the relevant police station will issue a certificate and report it to the police station where my household registration is located to make corrections according to the above application procedures.
