New Zealand immigration materials submission process

1, evaluation

Before submitting the letter of intent (EOI), applicants need to confirm whether they have met the minimum score requirement of 100. Applicants can conduct self-assessment in official website.

2. Submit EOI

If the applicant has met the requirements of skilled migration, the next step is to submit EOI. There are two ways to submit, one is to submit directly online, and the other is to fill out a form to submit an application. But now everyone generally chooses to submit online, which is cheap, fast and convenient.

EOI is selected every two weeks. Applications with scores above 140 will be automatically selected, and applications with scores before 100 will be selected according to the number of places from high to low. Unselected applications will remain in the library, waiting for the next selection opportunity. Applications can be kept in the library for six months. If you are not selected within six months, these applications will automatically become invalid. Applicants have the right to submit new applications to the Immigration Bureau and wait for the opportunity to choose.

3. Invitation letter

Successful applicants will receive an invitation letter from the Immigration Bureau. At this time, the applicant can submit a formal immigration application to the Immigration Bureau.

It may take some time from being selected to receiving the invitation letter. The specific length of this time depends on everyone's specific situation and the work style of the immigration officer. Some immigration officers will do a preliminary investigation before sending an invitation letter, so this time will be longer.

4. Submit a formal application

If the Immigration Bureau sends an invitation letter to the applicant, it means that the applicant has met the requirements of the current policy, and then the applicant has entered the formal skilled migration process.

Applicants need to submit materials according to the list of materials in the invitation letter. The invitation letter is valid for four months, so the applicant must submit a formal application to the Immigration Bureau within four months, otherwise the invitation letter will automatically become invalid and the applicant needs to resubmit the EOI to the Immigration Bureau.

5. Assessment and investigation

After receiving the formal application, the Immigration Bureau will evaluate and investigate the applicant's application materials to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the submitted EOI scores, and evaluate the applicant's personality and health status.

It usually takes 3-6 months or even longer from the time when an applicant formally submits an application to the Immigration Bureau, because during this time, the Immigration Bureau needs to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the applicant's application materials, such as work investigation, physical examination, police release and so on. The survey methods of work are usually telephone survey, questionnaire survey and on-site survey. The applicant and the company should be fully prepared for the investigation. Some applicants were refused visas during this process because immigration officials were not satisfied with the investigation. During the investigation, the applicant is sometimes required to submit the company's financial report, PAYE, GST declaration form, etc.

6. Immigration approval

After all the materials of the applicant are investigated, CO will make a final summary of the whole application, and then send it to the second person for inspection (SPC), and then the team leader will sign it. Finally, CO will send a letter of approval in principle (AIP) to the applicant.

Not every application will be approved, and receiving an invitation does not necessarily mean that it will be approved. If the applicant does not meet the requirements of the Immigration Bureau, he may also be refused a visa.
