The Life of the Characters in Liu Yukun's Works

Liu Yukun immigrated to the United States from Lanzhou with his parents when he was 8 years old.

Liu Yukun majored in law at university, and now she works as a lawyer in Boston and writes science fiction in her spare time. In April 2009, Science Fiction World magazine published two novels by Liu Yukun, The Algorithm of Love and Unit Error. Among them, The Algorithm of Love is well received by readers. Since then, many of his science fiction novels have been published in China, and gradually become familiar to domestic science fiction fans.

In the past two years, Liu Yukun's creative speed and quality have reached a peak. In the past two years, he has published more than 20 short science fiction novels in major science fiction magazines. In 20/0/2, Kloc was nominated for Hugo Award and Xingyun Award for "Paper in Hand, Love in Heart" and "Documentary: The Man Who Ended History". Among them, "Paper in Hand, Love in Heart" won the nebula award for best short story. Liu Yukun has also become another China science fiction writer who won the nebula award after Ted Jiang.

Besides writing science fiction, he also translated the works of famous domestic science fiction writers in China such as Liu, Chen Qiufan, Ma Boyong and Xia Jian into English and published them abroad, which served as a bridge between Chinese and western science fiction.

Recently, Liu Yukun and his wife are writing an epic fantasy novel.

20 12 at the 70th World Science Fiction Convention held in Chicago on September 2nd, Liu Yukun's novel The Paper Zoo won the Hugo Award for Best Short Story in 20 12. In May this year, he won the nebula award for best short story for this work. Hugo Award and Xingyun Award are called Nobel Prize and Oscar respectively in science fiction. Liu Yukun's "Documentary: The Man Who Ended History" was also nominated for this year's nebula award and Hugo award, but failed to win the prize.
