Tianjin is a rising star city in the Republic of China and the liberation period. Located at the intersection of five tributaries of Haihe River in North China Plain, it faces Bohai Sea in the east and Yanshan Mountain in the north. Haihe River, the mother river of Tianjin, enjoys a superior geographical position.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, because of its good foundation, a municipality directly under the Central Government was established to facilitate management. However, it is not always a municipality directly under the central government. For a time, it was designated as the capital of Hebei province, and later it was changed back to a municipality directly under the central government, until now.

The advantage of the central government is that it is easy to manage. As the provincial capital, Tianjin is too strong to control with the resources of the whole province, but as a municipality directly under the central government, it can be directly controlled.
