At the age of 27, he published his doctoral thesis "Economics of Discrimination" (University of Chicago Press,1957; The second edition, 197 1 year), introduces the utility function of employers and employees, and tries to make the competitive labor market model consistent with the observable wage discrimination between white workers and black workers; At first, the book didn't cause any repercussions, but in the end, it triggered a series of complete explanations to explain the persistence of racial and gender income discrimination in the labor market. He used this method for the second time when he developed some early suggestions of others (see Mincer, J.) into a general theory of forming human capital through school education and labor training. His book Human Capital (Columbia University Press,1964; The second edition (1975) is the starting point that is aptly described as "the human investment revolution in economic thought", which swept the economics in the 1960s. He used this method for the third time in Crime and Punishment: Economic Analysis (Journal of Political Economy,1March and April, 968). This article puts forward an amazing point: in view of the expected income of crime, the expected cost of crime expressed by the possibility of arrest and punishment, and their special risk preference, crime is another occupation that some people engage in for completely reasonable reasons! Becker used this method for the fourth time in Time Distribution Theory (Economic Journal,1September, 965). This paper investigates the division of labor among family members, which is a social system almost completely ignored by economics so far.

Becker's later research is based on this article. First, the decision to increase the number of children, then the decision to educate these children, and finally the initial decision to get married and the final decision to dissolve the marriage through divorce, which eventually leads to a complete explanation of almost all aspects of family behavior. The Economic Analysis of Family Behavior (University of Chicago Press, 1976) is his first exposition of this theory. Later, a more comprehensive book Family Theory was published (Harvard University Press, 198 1). Bezier's new family economics is different from the traditional concept that the family is regarded as a person's consumption unit, but as a number of my production units, which produce common effects with the help of family members' input of time, skills and knowledge; After that, the production theory can be effectively applied to family behavior.
