Wanping wanping

After investigating the dialect use of local residents of different ages, it is found that 30% of them only speak Henan dialect, and most of them are middle-aged and elderly people. Although 67% people can speak the local Wujiang dialect, they basically don't use it. They still speak Henan dialect at home or at work. Only 3% residents only speak local dialects because of their working environment. There are special reasons why Henan dialect is so popular in Wanping. Wanping was originally an ancient land shoal in East Taihu Lake. It was not until the 19th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (189 1) that people began to settle here. The first pioneers were refugees from Guangshan, Luoshan and Shangcheng in Henan Province. Since Li Chuangwang led the army into Shanxi and Henan, many Henan people have been trying to avoid natural and man-made disasters.

They have left home to travel to the south. At first, they lived in Jurong, Liyang, Yixing and some areas of Zhejiang in Jiangsu. However, there are sharp contradictions among indigenous people, and their lives are very difficult. At that time, Wanping was low-lying, and when the water level in Taihu Lake was high, there would be backward flow, so it was uninhabited and unmanned. Later, some people from Henan came to Wanping and found that this beach was very fertile and was not crowded out by local people, so they decided to settle here. They contacted relatives and friends in Zhejiang and Yixing, where they raised ducks and became the first pioneers in Wanping. Because people who moved to Henan have relatives and friends, they have strong cohesion, are not disturbed by neighboring areas and are not affected by local customs, and gradually formed an independent village that speaks Henan dialect and practices Henan customs. Henan people advocate ancestor worship, and every family has ancestral memorial tablets. However, unlike the local people's worship of "heaven and earth, blood relationship and teacher position", they worship the "ancestor Zhao Mu's god position". They left their hometown, so they miss their hometown more. They burn paper for sacrifice every year. This activity strengthened the internal connection between the third generation and the fourth generation living in Wanping, increased the cohesion, and made it difficult for foreign forces to compete. Therefore, although there are many immigrants from northern Jiangsu and Yun Chuan living in Wanping, they can only be assimilated by Henan dialect. Today, the descendants of several generations of Henan immigrants still retain the customs and habits of Henan, such as posting Spring Festival couplets, dancing lions and continuing genealogy. There is a 69-year-old man whose family has always insisted on naming their descendants by genealogy. The generations of his family are arranged in accordance with the fifteen words "Enlighten great literature, make the world rich, and make future generations naturally fragrant", which has never been chaotic.
