Shaxikou Hydropower Station is located in China, Fujian Province, on Xixi, a tributary of Minjiang River, 14 kilometers away from Nanping City. It is a concrete gravity dam with a maximum dam height of 4 meters, a total installed capacity of 3, kilowatts, and an annual power generation capacity of 96 million kilowatts. The project mainly focuses on power generation, with benefits of shipping and crossing trees. The reservoir flooded 7 hectares of cultivated land and 8,7 people migrated. Construction started in July 1983, and the first unit generated electricity in December 1987, and it was all put into operation in December 199.
The left bank and riverbed of the dam site are interbedded with quartz schist and mica felsic schist group, while the reef beach part and right bank of the riverbed are mica felsic schist, quartz schist and mica schist. The compressive strength of rock is above 5MPa. The main geological problem of the dam site is that in some dam sections, there is a prism composed of schistose plane of mica schist inclined downstream and weak structural plane inclined upstream, which is unfavorable for anti-sliding stability. Through exploration, field test and calculation and analysis of anti-sliding stability, it is considered that the requirements of anti-sliding stability can be met as long as the fault zone of unstable dam section is treated by excavation and backfilling concrete plug at the dam site. The basic earthquake intensity in the dam site area is 6 degrees. The measured maximum flow rate is 18,m3/s, and the minimum flow rate is 78.8m3/s. The drainage area above the dam site is 25,562 square kilometers, accounting for 99% of Xixi drainage area and 42% of Minjiang drainage area. The multi-year average flow is 778 cubic meters per second, and the multi-year average annual runoff is 24.5 billion cubic meters. The reservoir is designed according to the once-in-a-century flood and checked according to the once-in-a-thousand flood. The designed flood flow is 2,3m3/s, and the corresponding reservoir water level is 85m; The normal water level is 88 meters, with a corresponding storage capacity of 164 million cubic meters; The dead water level is 82 meters, and the regulated storage capacity is 8 million cubic meters. It is a daily regulating reservoir. The design head of the power station is 17.5m, with a maximum head of 24m and a minimum head of 7m.
The hub building consists of barrage, open spillway, riverbed powerhouse, switch station and ship lock.
The barrage is a concrete gravity dam with a total length of 628m, a crest elevation of 93m and a maximum dam height of 4m.
The overflow dam section has 16 open spillway, each with a width of 17 meters and a total length of 326.5 meters. The elevation of the spillway sill is 74.3 meters, and there are 16 radial gates with 17 meters× 14.8 meters (width× height).
the riverbed workshop is located on the right side of the riverbed, and there are four axial-flow paddle-type hydro-generator sets, with a runner diameter of 8m and a single machine capacity of 75, kilowatts. The main workshop is 16m long, 67.9m wide and 62.57m high. The unit section is 113 meters long, and the installation site is located at the right end of the plant. The auxiliary workshop is arranged on the downstream side of the main workshop. Two three-phase transformers with a capacity of 18MVA are arranged on the tail platform. 11kV and 22kV outdoor switch stations are arranged on the platform on the right side of the downstream tailrace.
a 3-ton ship lock, with a water level of 24.2 meters, adopts a decentralized water conveyance method with a long corridor at the bottom. The lock chamber size is 13m× 12m× 2.5m (length× width× minimum water depth).

Fujian Shaxikou Hydroelectric Power Plant, as a national key construction project during the Seventh Five-Year Plan, was established in March 1983 and formally established in April 1987. It is the first hydropower project in Fujian Province to introduce some foreign capital.
