EVE, how to open the novice gift package?

Step 1: There is a novice gift bag above the lander.

Step 2: There are still novice gift packages to be redeemed above the login.

Step 3: After redemption, redeem items in the role selection interface.

Step 4: By default, the picked spacecraft is placed in the "ship" of the space station where your current character is docked (the second from the left, above the "off-site" option).
