Yu Wenlong was not willing to limit his career to the country. He had already looked at overseas markets very early and tried to do foreign trade business. In 1991, he ushered in the second major turning point in his life and set out to start a business overseas. After conducting business visits to Hungary and Romania, he chose Budapest, the capital of Hungary, as his city of settlement. At that time, Hungary had just completed its institutional transformation and was extremely short of light industrial products. Seeing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Yu Wenlong immediately organized a large number of clothing, shoes and hats from China to be shipped to Hungary, becoming one of the first Chinese businessmen to ship to Hungary in containers. Under his inspiration and leadership, a large number of Chinese in Hungary also started trading with Hungary. In May 1992, the China Budapest Trade Center opened. Subsequently, Budapest soon became the largest distribution center for Chinese goods in Eastern Europe.

After years of hard work in Hungary, Yu Wenlong opened up a new world for overseas business. He first founded Yushi Hengtai (Hungary) International Trading Company and Hungary Golden Triangle Economic and Trade Industrial Development Company, and served as chairman. In 1995, he planned to establish the Chinese International Investment Group, composed of nine shareholder companies, and served as president and chairman successively. In 1997, he cooperated with colleagues to invest in the three-star "Oriental Hotel". The hotel is designed and built in accordance with three-star standards. It has more than 100 standard guest rooms, Chinese restaurants, Western restaurants, conference halls, etc., with complete facilities. The overall layout has both a luxurious and bright modern style and a simple and elegant oriental atmosphere. In terms of scale and luxury, it was the first-class hotel in the Chinese hotel industry in Europe at that time.

Living in a foreign country, Yu Wenlong never forgets his homeland. With the arrival of the new century, China's rapid changes have become the focus of the world's attention. Seeing this new opportunity, he returned to his hometown and started new domestic investment actions.

He set his sights on the island in Dongtou, Wenzhou. These islands were still a deserted land in people's eyes at that time, remote and isolated. But in Yu Wenlong's view, there are good development prospects there, and it may even become one of the most dynamic areas in Wenzhou. Therefore, he chose to invest in the construction of a villa group on the land along the "Five Islands Bridge" in Dongtou, with an agreed investment of more than 400 million yuan, and 110 million yuan in early development.

He turned his attention to the low-lying land around Wuxi Railway Station. These low-lying areas are areas that Wuxi City needs to carry out key renovations. Whenever heavy rains come, they are full of puddles and a mess. But Yu Wenlong once again "took the wrong approach" and believed that this would be a prime location for Wuxi's future development, so he invested heavily in building two 22-story commercial buildings. What confirms Yu Wenlong's sharp vision is that the Wuxi Municipal Government has subsequently made great efforts to transform the train station and its surrounding environment, and the area is now developing into an important business district in the city.

In addition to businesses in Dongtou and Wuxi, Yu Wenlong currently operates Wenzhou Great Eastern Foreign Trade Company, Wenzhou Huachang Shoe Material Company, Wenzhou Guangsha Construction and Development Company, Wenzhou Huachen Investment Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Wuxi Tianlong Real Estate Development Company, etc.
