First, you don't need to apply for a green card or do military service.

Second, if you want to apply for a green card, you are a first-generation immigrant. The current policy is that the first generation of immigrants do not have to perform military service. Second generation immigrants need it. The second generation of immigrants means that your spouse or your parents get a green card, and you get a green card through this kinship.
