The Historical Evolution of Bailong River

Starting from the Ming Dynasty, in order to consolidate the frontier and educate "aliens", the government began a large-scale "project" to relocate the Han people to the Bailong River Basin. Coupled with the military and civilian operations in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, more importantly, the two waves of refugees made the Han people gradually become the main residents of the river basin.

The first refugee climax occurred during the decades of war in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and a large number of Sichuan-Sichuan immigrants poured into the Bailong River basin.

The second wave of refugees appeared in the Hui uprising in Shaanxi, Gansu and Gansu in the decade of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty, and a large number of Shaanxi immigrants poured into this basin.

The former is because the agricultural economy was severely damaged in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, resulting in a large number of refugees. Due to the deep mountain valleys and dense forests in Bailong River Valley, there are few harsh policies and soldiers, attracting a large number of refugees. Especially with geographical factors, there are more refugees from Sichuan and Hubei. Now it is widely circulated in Longnan, and their ancestors moved here from "Sichuan Sophora japonica". According to the New Records of Huixian County, the Records of Xihe County compiled during the Republic of China (Huixian County and Xihe County are now in Longnan area and adjacent to Wudu County) and some genealogical data that can be seen today, these statements are proved to be true.
