Relevant requirements of employment permit for Irish immigrants

Article 1 Relevant requirements of employment permit for Irish immigrants

1, 5-year policy for workers and redundant workers INIS has formulated detailed arrangements, which are applicable to those who have worked for 5 years or more with work permits and those who have been fired. These arrangements have now been updated. This policy has two elements. In short, these are;

The condition for granting exemption is that legal residents who have held work permits for five consecutive years or more must hold valid work permits issued by the Minister of Enterprise, Trade and Innovation. This concession is also applicable to legal residents who have worked continuously for five years with a work visa or a work permit issued under the work visa program.

This concession also applies to holders of work permits and spouse/related work permits. The permit must cover a continuous period of 5 years, and the person must endorse the stamp 1 on his passport to cover the working period.

2, 5 years of workers regulations

This section includes:

Persons with work permits (now including spouse/dependant permits) who have worked continuously for five years or more, and persons who have worked effectively for more than five years (or spouse/dependant permits) and currently hold work permits/work visas issued by the work permit/work visa program.

The above two categories of people and those who work legally during this period will be exempted from the requirement of holding a work permit when the immigration registration is updated next time. This applies equally to those who are still working and those who have work permits. They have finished their work for five years and have been fired since then.

This person must have worked in Ireland for five consecutive years and obtained a work permit issued by the Minister of Enterprise, Trade and Innovation.

Note: People who are laid off before completing five years' work are not eligible for this special privilege, but may be eligible to extend the "grace period" according to Section 2 below.
