Invincible is my favorite movie by far. Although Douban scored only 6.8, most film critics criticized it as useless. The story itself is very touching, although Angelina Jolie wants it to be an element of the Oscar paper. It is adapted from Laura Hillenbrand's best-selling novel Invincible: A World War II Story about Survival, Resilience and Redemption, and tells a true story that happened in World War II.
Louis, the hero of the story, was a problem of juvenile when he was a child, drinking and stealing. Because they are Italian immigrants from California, they are often bullied by local boys. Later, with the encouragement of his eldest brother Pete, he joined the track and field team and started long-distance running.
Later, the phrase "you can do it if you can take it." And long-distance running has created an indestructible Louis. He survived the day when the plane crashed into the sea and was captured.
After the plane crash, Louis and two other team members, accompanied by sharks and scorching sun, were tortured by hunger and despair and floated on the endless sea. They ate seabirds and caught sharks, experienced great storms, and also experienced dive shooting by Japanese planes. Mike, one of the survivors, even though he experienced all this safely, he still went to death.
Living in such an environment makes people unable to see the sea of hope and isolated from the world. I have to say that Louis and Phil are more persistent in their hope of living.
After floating for 47 days, they were rescued from the sea. However, it entered a more cruel Japanese prison camp.
Louis was brutally abused by officer Watanabe in the prison camp. Inexplicable beatings are basically the normal life of Louis after he entered the prison camp. He not only has to endure heavy work every day, but also accepts the abuse of Watanabe.
In this film, Watanabe is a twisted Gao Fushuai who aspires to be a senior officer. His constant abuse of Louis is actually more like an invincible hero who wants to destroy Louis. Watanabe's heart is afraid of Louis, just as ugly people feel more vulgar and noble when they see angels.
At the end of the movie, Watanabe escaped. When Louis went to Watanabe, all that was left in the room was the bamboo stick that was used to beat Louis again and again.
When Louis sat against the wall, I couldn't guess what he was thinking. He wants to bid farewell to Watanabe and this dark day!
Unfortunately, Watanabe is missing.
After the war, Louis faced the mental torture of "post-traumatic stress syndrome". He suffers from a strong mental illness, smoking and drinking, and is easily agitated. Even when he sleeps at night, he can dream that a big bird is hitting him.
Later, Zamperini went to Tokyo's Nest Duck Prison to look for Hong Guang Watanabe, a prisoner of war camp guard who abused him, but he didn't find him. After asking the guards, he learned that Hong Guang Watanabe had been on the run since the war and committed suicide in despair.
Decades later, he published the original of his letter to Hong Guang Watanabe 1950, in which he expressed his forgiveness for Watanabe and hoped that Watanabe would find his own faith.
I want to redeem him, just as the godfather said at the beginning of the movie, "God created two kinds of light, the stronger light rules the day and the weaker light rules the night." And these, light and darkness, day and night, are separated from each other. God created day and night, but he didn't create war. He said, you must spend the night, don't resist. Don't fight criminals, but forgive them, forgive sins, smile at sinners, accept the night, spend the night, and love your enemies. "
1998, 53 years after the end of World War II, 80-year-old Luis Zamperini was invited to be the torchbearer of the Japanese Winter Olympics. He ran the section of the city where Jiangjin prison camp was located.
I wish I could be closer to what I like!
