How do mainlanders view Jiangsu and Guangdong?

As an early builder of special economic zones, I personally experienced the most glorious era in Shenzhen. After returning to the mainland, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Guangdong gradually narrowed the gap.

The author worked in Shenzhen in the late 1980s and was a technician sent by Jiangsu government to support the construction of Shenzhen. At that time, there were many new factories in Shenzhen, Zhongshan, Shunde and other four little dragons in Guangdong, which lacked capital, technology and management backbone. It is precisely because of the support of the people of the whole country that today's glory has been achieved.

However, Guangdong people dare to be the first in the world, tolerant and open-minded, which makes Jiangnan people deeply admire. As a Shanghainese, the author believes that if the first special zone is located in Shanghai or Jiangsu, it is impossible to create a miracle like Shenzhen today. Only Guangdong can turn a fishing village into a first-tier city.

I like the relaxed social and working environment in Shenzhen very much. At that time, I had the opportunity to work in Shenzhen, but unfortunately, because my parents, wife and children still stayed in the mainland, I didn't have the courage to stay in Shenzhen for development alone, which was a lifelong regret.

The Yangtze River and the Pearl River are the mother rivers of Jiangsu and Guangdong, and they are also "fertile soil" for raising the people of the two provinces. Guangdong people are good at business and entrepreneurship, while Jiangsu people are good at technical management; Cantonese people are enthusiastic and dare to fight; Jiangsu people are cautious, steady and progressive; Guangdong people and Zhejiang people have more entrepreneurial talents; Most people in Jiangsu and Shanghai are technical management talents and senior white-collar workers.

With the large-scale population and talent flow in China, great changes have taken place in the cultural features of Jiangsu and Guangdong. Jiangsu is catching up after innovation and entrepreneurship, while Guangdong has attracted outstanding talents from all over the country and created many national brands with independent intellectual property rights. As a brand-new immigrant city, Shenzhen has become the national brand capital of China.

The similarity between Jiangsu and Guangdong lies in the imbalance between the provinces. There is a big gap in economic development between southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu, and there is a big gap between Guangdong Pearl River Basin and northwestern Guangdong. How to develop in an all-round way is a major issue facing Jiangsu and Guangdong.
