What unit is the US Navy SWCC?
Second, the US Navy SWCC is divided into four stages:
The first stage:
The founder of SWCC is 1964. At that time, because of the Vietnam War, the navy needed a coastal inland river armed force to support the navy's deep mission, so the ship support force BSU was born, and the name of the inland river force was named after it. At that time, because the mission targets were mainly concentrated in inland river basins and near the eastern coast of Vietnam, BSU formed two squadrons, namely BSU- 1 and BSU-2, which were stationed in subic bay near the South China Sea in China and Da Nang in central Vietnam, respectively, so as to cover the above-mentioned two mission areas. The main equipment used at that time was an armed patrol boat modified from PTF hard-shell torpedo boat. Then at 1967, forced by the increasingly anxious situation in Vietnam, the US military was eager to end the war, so it increased its investment in all aspects. At this time, BSU 3 was born. The entire BSU coastal river support fleet maintained three formations until the end of the Vietnam War, namely 197 1.
The second stage:
With the end of the Vietnam War, the US military reorganized the BSU coastal river support fleet, changed the original three-organization back to two-organization, and changed the name of this unit. This is the coastal river squadron. CRS has two squadrons, namely CRS- 1 and CRS-2, and CRS- 1 and CRS-2 have four war departments respectively. Among them, CRS- 1 has three combat teams and one MST-3 mobile support team: CRD- 1, CRD- 12 and CRD- 13. CRS-2 has four operation groups: CRD-20, CRD-2 1, CRD-22 and CRD-24. Eight divisions of the two squadrons are stationed in the following places: CRD- 1 1 is located in Mamajiao, CRD- 12 and CRD- 13 are located in Colorado, and MST-3 continues to be stationed in subic bay; CRD-20, CRD-2 1, CRD-22 and CRD-24 are all stationed in Virginia, of which CRD-20 is in Norfolk, CRD-2 1 is required to be responsible for 20 continental lake waves in the United States, and CRD-22 and CRD-24 are mainly responsible for coastal areas. This situation continued until 1978.
The third stage:
1978, with the increasing emphasis on combat capability by the US Navy's special forces, CRS was officially appointed as a special warship squadron, namely SBS, which basically delayed the establishment structure of CRS, but made some adjustments to some extent. The adjusted establishment was SBS, including two squadrons, namely SBS- 1 and SBS-2. Among them, SBS- 1 owns three special warships, namely SBU-1,SBU- 12, SBU- 13, and a S B D special warship fleet, which basically follows the compilation of CRS- 1 era as a whole. Similarly, the changes of SBS-2 squadron are also very inherited. It has four special squadrons, namely SBU-20, SBU-22, SBU-24 and SBU-26. If you are interested, draw a transition diagram from CRS era to SBS era, and you will intuitively find that the inheritance in the whole development process is very strong. Under the new structure, these eight combat troops are stationed at the naval amphibious bases in Mamajima, San Diego and Virginia, as well as SBU- 1 1. The SBD special ship force is divided into three teams to follow the previous 165438+. SBU-20 continues to be stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, SBU-22 is stationed at the Space Center in Mississippi, SBU-24 and SBU-1 3 of squadron are stationed at the naval amphibious base in Virginia, and SBU-26 is stationed in Panama. This situation continued until 2002.
The fourth stage:
SWCC is a surface ship transport unit under the jurisdiction of the entire navy special forces, with a solid organizational system. This organizational system has undergone decades of evolution since the Vietnam War, and finally it was reorganized into today's NSWG-4 (the 4th Navy Special Operations Group) in 2002. At present, the regiment belongs to four naval combat units and 1 teaching and training units, and has 12, 20 and 22 SBT teams (special naval fleet) and 1 S B D unit (special naval fleet), as well as NAVSCIATTS (naval technical guidance and training school) joint training and teaching units. At present, all SWCC troops are stationed at the naval amphibious training base in Virginia.
