How to judge the direction of paper grain

The method of judging the direction of paper texture;

1, tearing method

When the paper has no creases, hands will naturally tear the paper in the opposite direction. The straight crack is longitudinal silk thread, and the obvious ripple crack is transverse silk thread.

2. Pull method

Hold both sides of the paper with both hands and pull it out. Horizontal paper is easy to break, and vertical paper is not easy to break.

3, hand law enforcement

Cut out paper strips with the size of 100mm× 10mm in different directions of the paper, hold one end with your fingers, and let the paper strip hang horizontally outward to see its free bending state. It is the horizontal line that bends badly, and the vertical line is straighter.

4. Transfer to law enforcement

On the whole stack of paper, turn the paper edges in different directions to the opposite side respectively, and naturally reset the paper edges after releasing your hand. After the paper edge is reset, it is the horizontal paper edge that keeps tight; On the contrary, the larger gap is the longitudinal paper edge.

5, water drop method

For paper without sizing, you can put the paper flat on the table and drop a drop of water on the paper. The shape of the expanded water drop is oval. The long axis direction of the ellipse is the longitudinal paper edge, and the vertical direction is the transverse paper edge.

6, soaking method

Tear the paper into round or square pieces and soak it in water. Paper will curl quickly after absorbing water. The curled side is horizontal stripes, and the unrolled side is vertical stripes.
