Shanghai Urban History Development Exhibition Hall is located in the Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower, which is an image display reflecting the changes of Shanghai's modern history, with an exhibition area of 10000 square meters.

The whole exhibition hall dates back to Huating. It consists of seven parts: city view, port opening, Shili foreign exchange, maritime tracking, architectural exposition and spring and autumn period of horses and chariots.

This is the China Geography Museum. Specially collect Shanghai local cultural relics specimens, study and display local natural environment, resources, social and historical development and construction achievements. Shanghai History Museum is a geographical museum that comprehensively reflects the local history of Shanghai. The preparatory work for the Shanghai Geography Museum began in the Shanghai Museum of Historical Architecture in the 1950s. Shanghai Museum of Historical Relics was built in 1983, and its current name was changed in July of199/kloc-0.

1983 Shanghai Historical Relics Exhibition Hall temporarily borrowed Hall 5 of Shanghai Agricultural Exhibition Hall in the western suburbs as a temporary venue, which is now open. Through 1300 pieces of cultural relics, documents and pictures, the exhibition hall comprehensively shows the long historical scrolls of Shanghai from ancient times to the present 1949 before liberation.

In May, 20001,the "Shanghai Urban History Development Exhibition Hall" built by Shanghai History Museum was opened to the public in the podium of Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower. The exhibition hall is divided into five parts: the origin of Huating, the city style, the glimpse of opening a port, the Shili foreign market and the old traces on the sea. Mainly using the artistic techniques of scenes and models, supplemented by audio, multimedia information inquiry device and multimedia film and television model synthesis device, taking the development of urban architecture as the main clue, it reflects the process of Shanghai's development from a coastal fishing village to the largest industrial and commercial city in China since ancient times, and highlights the historical evolution of modern Shanghai in politics, economy, culture, society and life.

On June 5438+ 10, 2003, Shanghai History Museum was named "Shanghai Patriotism Education Base" by Shanghai Municipal People's Government. The total collection of Shanghai History Museum is about 1 10000 pieces, which are divided into fifteen categories: painting and calligraphy, metal, ceramics, handicrafts, badges, documents, printing, textiles, stone carvings, coins, photos, paper-cuts, stamps, records and other miscellaneous items. Among them, Han Ximeng's Embroidered Insect and Fish Book in the Ming Dynasty, Hou Tongzeng's Book Scroll, the gold-lettered scripture of Qibao Temple, the bronze cannon of General Zhenyuan, the relics of Chen Huacheng's resistance to Britain in modern times, the large amount of funds of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the bronze lion in front of the former HSBC Bank, and the boundary markers of 1893 British and American concessions are all important cultural relics in the collection.

Shanghai Museum of History has long insisted on conducting academic investigation and research on Shanghai's local cultural relics history, local customs, human environment, urban changes and museum science, and has published a large number of works. Since 2002, Journal of Shanghai History Museum has been published. In 2007, Shanghai History Museum became the chairman of the Urban Museum Committee of the Chinese Museum Society. As a major member of the Professional Committee of Urban Museums of the International Exposition Association, Shanghai Museum of History actively cooperates with urban museums at home and abroad and contributes to the development of urban museums.

As a major cultural project in the 12th Five-Year Plan, the new project of Shanghai History Museum has been included in the 12th Five-Year Plan of Shanghai. The new history museum in the future will be a museum of local chronicles that comprehensively reflects the historical development track of Shanghai, and is positioned to comprehensively display Shanghai's ancient and modern cultural relics.
