Eight problems that must be clarified before traveling in Thailand
1. Can I go to landing visa to go to Thailand?
The answer is yes.
The following only discusses the situation of flying to Thailand, which can be roughly divided into two categories: one is group tour and the other is self-help tour.
(1) If you travel with a group, whether you apply for a visa in advance or not, the group can help you come to Thailand because there is a company guarantee.
(2) If it is a self-help tour, you will hardly be refused a visa to come to landing visa, but if you want to stay for more than 15 days, you still need to apply for a visa in advance. Because the validity period of the visa on arrival is only 15 days at most, the validity period of applying for a visa in advance is 2 months, and it can be renewed 1 month.
It should be noted that there is also a long queue to run landing visa, which may take a long time, and it is necessary to fill out forms and post photos.
If you have enough time to prepare your trip, you may wish to apply for a Thai visa directly from Taobao. This will save you the trouble of queuing for visa on arrival when you arrive, and you can cope if you want to stay for another ten or eight days.
2. How much money do I need to take to Thailand?
The answer is at least 10000 baht or equivalent foreign currency per person, or at least 20000 baht or equivalent foreign currency per family.
According to the regulations of the Immigration Bureau of Thailand, foreigners entering Thailand are required to bring not less than 1 1,000 baht (about 1 1,900 RMB) in cash or equivalent foreign currency, which is explained on the website of the Thai Embassy in China. However, tourists who don't carry this cash don't have to worry. If they are spot-checked, they can temporarily withdraw them from the airport ATM. Although this is a spot check, and the chances of winning the prize are very small, it is recommended to prepare in advance. The so-called poor family is rich, so it is more convenient to bring more money out to play.
Do you want to change some change in advance?
There is no answer.
When you get off the plane, you must want to play in the city or go to the hotel first. You'd better have change if you take a taxi. Drivers of large bills may not be able to change them, but there are 7- 1 1 convenience stores all over Thailand, which can be changed at any time.
As for changing money, it would be best if you changed some Thai baht in China in advance. I can only praise you as a good boy. It's better to be safe to come out to play. Don't cram at the last minute. If you are too lazy to change it in advance, it doesn't matter. You can withdraw cash or exchange money at the airport. If you withdraw cash directly from an ATM, there is a handling fee of at least 50 baht, which is not recommended. If there is enough time, it is recommended to exchange RMB for Thai baht at superrich in Suvarnabhumi Airport. As far as I know, Thailand's super-rich exchange rate is the best. The shop is open at the airport from 9 am to 6 pm, with one day off every Sunday. It is located on the lowest floor of Suvarnabhumi Airport, which is connected with the airport express line.
4. Do I need to buy insurance in advance to go to Thailand?
The answer suggests buying overseas travel insurance.
Travel insurance is generally low in price, quick in effect and high in compensation. Since we have decided to go out to play, safety comes first. While playing seriously, you should also give yourself a guarantee. Don't be afraid to spend hundreds of dollars on insurance.
For example, some children's shoes like to rent motorcycles in Phuket and Chiang Mai, but it is easy to have an accident if the driving skills are not good. It is more cost-effective to buy an insurance at this time.
5. Is Thailand's self-help tour safe? What should I do if I encounter a tourist trap?
The answer is generally safe, but you can't let your guard down. In case of tourist trap, you can call the Thai Tourism Police Hotline 1 155 to provide Thai and English services. The Chinese service telephone number is 023560583, which I called the tourist police hotline (you can write it down in advance).
Thailand is a Buddhist country. As far as I have worked and lived in Thailand for more than a year, most Thais are gentle, polite and disciplined. I have been told several times that I forgot my mobile phone in the restaurant and it was still there when I went back to look for it.
However, a good environment does not mean that everyone is good. I suggest you be more careful when you go out. If you encounter a scam or travel trap, report it in time. Here are a few examples for your reference:
(1) chartering trap
In Thailand, some sea motorboats rented by tourists are sometimes "tampered" in advance or accidentally damaged during use, so tourists will ask the merchants for huge compensation. This has happened to my friend twice. Recently, the military has been cracking down on illegal actions at sea. This phenomenon should be suppressed. If you encounter, report it as soon as possible.
(2) Jewelry store trap
Although Thais are very enthusiastic, everyone will help you enthusiastically when you ask for directions, but if someone takes the initiative to strike up a conversation, you should probably be careful. Especially in places like the Grand Palace and the Sleeping Buddha Temple, I tell you, there are activities today, and the Grand Palace is closed. Ignore it, or you may be taken to the jewelry store in a daze.
(3) The four-faced Buddha buys a garland trap
The four-faced Buddha in Bangkok is said to be very spiritual. Many tourists will visit Thailand, and some stars will come here. There are many stalls selling garlands and incense near the Four Faces Buddha. It is recommended not to buy it, because the price is very high, so you can ask the price at will. Some merchants will put things directly into your hands, and some tourists can only buy them.
Remember, when you enter the main entrance of the four-faced Buddha, go straight ahead and there will be regular vendors. Generally speaking, a set of items including incense, candles and garlands costs about 50 baht.
In addition, there are travel agency fraud and massage fraud. , not listed here. In short, let's remember a few points: don't be greedy and cheap when traveling, don't trust those people whose prices are too low, don't trust those who take the initiative to strike up a conversation, and don't trust pies falling from the sky.
6. Do I need to buy a local phone card in advance to go to Thailand?
The answer is to take the 7-day tour as an example. It is the most convenient to buy a happy card in advance in China, which saves about 20 yuan compared with Thailand. This card is basically enough, but you have to find a reliable merchant; If there is a requirement for network speed, you can buy an AIS card at the airport. Internet access is faster, and many islands have signals, but calling China is the most expensive. I like to brush Sina Weibo if I don't want to spend money, and occasionally I don't make phone calls online. You can get a TrueMove card for free at the airport, but it is said that the network speed is slow. Phone cards of the three major operators can be purchased at Suvarnabhumi Airport, and the answer is free. Recharge can be made at 7 1 1 and FamilyMart convenience stores all over Thailand.
Thailand has three major mobile operators-DTAC, TRUEMOVE and AIS. Let's talk about the charges of 7-day tour packages of various operators:
(1)DTAC: Most of the Happy Cards sold on Taobao have a face value of 299 baht, and the average price is around 40 yuan, including 100 baht (about 20 RMB) telephone charges. 7 days unlimited 3G Internet access, but the speed within 1G is 42M/ s, and the speed above 1G is 384k/s.. In Thailand, SMS can be used after being activated in English, such as inserting a card and turning on the phone.
The 3G standard of DTAC is WCDMA850MHZ. You need to check whether your mobile phone supports this frequency band. IPhone is fine.
Charge: local call in Thailand is about 1.25 baht/minute; Dialing 0040086+ domestic number is about 1.25 baht/minute (for fixed-line calls, the front 0 should be removed, such as 0040086 10+ fixed-line calls back to Beijing).
Details can be seen on Taobao related store pages, which are more detailed than what I said.
(2)TrueMove: The operator will distribute the SIM card launched in cooperation with Sina Weibo at the outlets of Suvarnabhumi Airport free of charge. Including 20M traffic, 10 baht international call fee, you can swipe Sina Weibo for free. The 3G standard is WCDMA850MHZ.
Charge: Thailand local call is about 1 baht/minute, dial 0060086+ domestic number is about 1.50 baht/minute (the front 0 should be removed for fixed-line calls, such as 0060086 10+ back to Beijing fixed-line calls), and the answer is free. Visitors can apply for a 7-day Internet package after receiving the card. The fee is 249 baht (about 50 yuan RMB), not limited to 3G Internet access, 42M/ s expressway within 1G, and speed limit above 1G128k/s.
(3)AIS: The operator signal in Thailand is said to be the best, and this is what I use. The 7-day package is 299 baht (about RMB 60 yuan), including unlimited Internet access, 1.5g high-speed Internet access (speed limit 1.5g or above) and 100 baht telephone charges. 3G system is WCDMA900MHZ.
Charge: Thailand local call 1 baht/minute, dial 0050086+ domestic number about 3 baht/minute, and the answer is free.
Note: after you get the card, please read the instructions attached with the card carefully, which are generally in Chinese, because the operator's tariff may change, so the specific details shall prevail.
7. Is it convenient to buy sunscreen, slippers and beach skirts locally? Is it expensive?
The answer is not bad.
The reason for living in Thailand is that sunscreen, slippers and other items are essential, and businesses will certainly not miss business opportunities. Thailand has many boots and Watsons, which specialize in selling daily necessities. Generally, it is available in shopping malls, so it is convenient to buy sunscreen and the price is reasonable. As for slippers, it is also very convenient to buy them in Thailand. It is usually found in night markets and streets. Ordinary slippers 100 baht a pair, better ones cost 400 baht or 500 baht. Usually pinch your toes.
When you go to Thailand, you will find that many people go out directly in slippers. Thai slippers are very comfortable. It's still good to wear it for a year now, so it's also a good choice to buy some pairs of slippers to take home, haha!
Beach skirts can be bought in the night market here, and there are many on sale at the seaside, usually about two or three hundred baht, which is not expensive. You can also buy a colorful cloth and wrap it around your waist directly. I think it's more emotional.
If you want to snorkel, I suggest you buy waterproof bags for mobile phones, disposable waterproof cameras and diving socks online in advance. I won't explain the first two. I bought diving socks because sometimes there are some sharp stones along the coast, and it is easy to get hurt barefoot.
In addition, the travel company will issue snorkeling goggles and return them after use. But some goggles are easy to leak when used for a long time. If you have clean children's shoes, it is recommended to buy a set of snorkeling goggles online in advance.
8. Do you really have to tip everywhere in Thailand?
The answer depends.
Thailand is indeed a tipping country, but it doesn't mean tipping everywhere. For example, after eating in a restaurant, you should first check whether there is a service charge in the bill. If there is a service charge, there is no need to tip. In addition, you don't need to tip when you eat at the stall. Fast food restaurants don't need to tip either.
So, when do you need to tip? According to my experience, I can leave 20 baht on the table if the service charge is confiscated by the store after going to the restaurant. If you want to stay in the same hotel the next day, you can leave 20 baht at the bedside for the waiter who will help you clean your room. When you are in thai massage, you can tip 50- 100 baht when you are finished, and the masseur will be very happy.
