What should a 50-year-old man do when he goes to Thailand for retirement?

There are two ways for foreigners over 50 to apply for a temporary residence visa (non-immigrant visa code O-A) in Thailand, that is, to apply in a foreign country or to apply in Thailand.

1. Foreign application

Foreigners can apply for visas at Thai embassies and consulates abroad and need to prepare the following documents: (1) visa application form. (2) A copy of the passport, or a certificate that replaces the passport, with the validity period exceeding 1 June. (3) Having a bank deposit equivalent to not less than 800,000 baht or a monthly income of not less than 65,000 baht, or having a bank deposit and [(monthly/income) x 12] * * * not less than 800,000 baht. Thai embassies and consulates abroad will send the application materials to the Immigration Bureau for review after receiving the application. After the examination, the Immigration Bureau shall notify the Foreign Affairs Visa Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the relevant embassies and consulates abroad within 7 working days.

2. Application in Thailand

(1) The hospital or nursing home is responsible for the application. (2) An application is made by an institution or unit recognized by the Immigration Bureau. (3) The application shall be made by the foreigner's parents, spouse or family members of the child under guardianship. Applications in the above three cases must be submitted to Room 3, Group 2, Immigration Bureau 1 Section 4, Jinghe Road, Bangkok (tel: +66(0)2287 4948).

Remarks: The end of review will be notified within 7 working days after the end of review.
