If mainland residents are retirees who have received pensions from the Mainland when they live in the Mainland, they will be issued with one-way permits to settle in Hong Kong. Retirees can apply to the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (hereinafter referred to as the FTU) for a retirement and pension certificate, or swear to produce a mainland retirement and pension certificate at the District Office.
