This resolution applies to any immigrant (regardless of nationality) who intends to buy real estate in Brazil. According to the resolution, eligible immigrants in Brazil can obtain residence visas for an initial period of two years. Once the investment property is approved, immigrants can change into permanent residence visas.

According to Brazilian media reports, in order to obtain permanent residency, immigrants need to buy not less than 1 million reais in cities in southern, southeastern and central and western Brazil, and not less than 700,000 reais in cities in northern and northeastern Brazil.
