IELTS reconsideration refers to the process in which candidates have objections to their IELTS scores and apply to the official online for re-score recognition. .

During the reconsideration process, the official will ask the examiner to re-mark the individual items of the application (mostly oral writing) to see if the scores given last time meet the scoring standards, and then decide whether to change your scores.

Strictly speaking, it is possible for grades to rise, fall, or remain the same. But under normal circumstances, there will be no decline in performance.

1. Reconsideration application time, fee, and cycle

Reconsideration applications will have a deadline. After the results are released, there will be a prompt on the official website. Generally, the application deadline is after the results are announced on the official website. Within 1 month, no waiting will be done if overdue. The entire review process lasts 6-8 weeks. After recharging and paying on the official website - filling in the information - payment is successful, the waiting process will begin. During this period, you can log in to the personal homepage of the official website to check the processing status of the review application.

Starting in April 2018, the review fee has increased to RMB 1,400, and this price remains the same regardless of the number of items reviewed. The better thing is that the original transcript does not need to be submitted and sent back. It will be frozen during this period and cannot be used for any application.

2. Under what circumstances is review performed?

The review cycle is relatively long, and not every score should be reviewed. However, candidates can decide whether reconsideration is needed based on their actual situation.

1) There is a big difference between your actual score and your usual mock test or predicted score after the test. If you feel that after checking your answers or answer ideas after the exam, you feel that your answer ideas or answer content are not biased and you performed well, you may consider reconsideration.

2) There is a big difference between the highest score and the lowest score in a single item. If the results show a large difference and you did not get the expected individual scores under normal performance, you can try to reconsider. Generally speaking, speaking and writing receive the most review.

3) There is no rush to use IELTS scores, and IELTS score sheets will not be used during the review period.

4) The total score can be increased by 0.5 with only a small difference of 0.5. The IELTS score is calculated by taking the sum of the four scores and averaging them. If the decimal point is 0.25 after removing 0.5, then add 0.5, if not, return it.

5) You are just one small point away from the minimum score required for the major in your favorite college. You feel that your performance is better and you feel that you are being squeezed. You don’t have enough time to prepare for the exam again or you don’t want to spend the cost to take the exam again. And students who can afford to wait for the reconsideration time. If candidate A succeeds in the writing review and candidate B succeeds in the speaking review, and both increase by 0.5 points, it will have a greater impact on the final score. In this case, it is recommended that students try to reconsider.
