What is the procedure for closing an account?

To cancel an account:

1. According to Article 8 of the Regulations on Household Registration in People's Republic of China (PRC) and Article 6 of the Preliminary Opinions of the Third Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security on Implementing the Regulations on Household Registration, if a citizen dies, the head of the household, relatives, guardians and neighbors shall report the death registration to the household registration authority and cancel the household registration within one month before entering the city for burial.

(2) the household registration book and identity card of the deceased. ?

2. Due to enlistment, going abroad, arrest, reeducation through labor, disappearance, etc. , need to cancel the account, should hold the corresponding documents, to the local police station for account.

If you want to cancel your account, please apply to the local police station and go through the following procedures:?

1, the death account is cancelled with the Household Register, Resident Identity Card and Medical Certificate of Death (rural certificate is acceptable); ?

2, the cancellation of the registered permanent residence of citizens, with the "household registration book", "resident identity card" and "notice of enlistment"; ?

3. The cancellation of the residence account for going abroad shall be based on the certificate of going abroad and my "Household Register" and "Resident Identity Card". ?

Procedures and materials for account cancellation:

Article 1 Joining the army: it shall be handled with the residence booklet and the notice of citizens joining the army. Citizens who have been enlisted for active service (including students admitted to military academies) will cancel their accounts at the local police station with the notice of enlistment or the "roster of applicants" provided by the People's Armed Forces Department of the county (city, district) before enlisting, and will not issue the "Migration Certificate". Individuals who have not declared their cancellation, and who have joined the army after investigation and verification by the police station, must cancel their permanent residence.

According to the spirit of Gong Zhi [2006] No.246, the public security organs will not take back the resident ID cards of citizens who have already received resident ID cards when going through the formalities of canceling their accounts.

Ordinary college graduates who have been recruited for compulsory military service (hereinafter referred to as college graduates) have been identified as pre-conscripts. At the time of enrollment, the registered permanent residence has been moved to the pre-requisition object of attending colleges and universities. If they want to move their registered permanent residence back to their original place, they have to cancel their registered permanent residence after enlisting in the army.

Article 2 Citizens who go abroad or settle in Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan Province Province shall be handled by the notice of cancellation of their accounts issued by the entry-exit department. Those who have applied for resident identity cards of the People's Republic of China shall be confiscated.

If the whole family moves out, the household registration will be confiscated. Those who go abroad temporarily, leave the country or study at their own expense will only go through the formalities of going abroad and will not cancel their accounts. When going through the registration formalities, the household police should collect relevant information and file it.

Article 3 Death: Death shall be handled by household registration book, resident ID card, death medical certificate or death appraisal certificate, and the collection of resident ID card shall be handled according to ZY [2008] No.654.

If you have joined a foreign nationality, you or your immediate family members will report the cancellation of your account to the local police station with your household registration book, resident ID card, foreign passport and other legal and valid identity documents.

Those who have joined a foreign nationality but fail to declare the cancellation of their accounts in accordance with the regulations shall be confirmed by the exit-entry administration department of the public security organ at or above the county level that has the right to issue visas for foreigners, and their accounts shall be cancelled by the local police station.
