Why is Canada called the country of mosaics?

People from various countries who joined Canada in different historical periods are distributed in relatively concentrated forms throughout the country. The United States quickly assimilates immigrants into a melting pot, while immigrants in Canada firmly retain many traditions of their own nation while adapting to life in Canada. They make Canada a complex with various historical influences and different regional cultural and religious characteristics.
