Zhuge Liang's ancestral home is Langya Yang Du, which is now the south of Yishui County, Shandong Province, and later moved to Nanyang with his father.

Now there are two versions of his former residence: Nanyang and Xiangyang. For these two statements, I found some information, which is as follows:

One said that his former residence is in Nanyang, Henan Province today. 1957 March19 Guangming Daily published a photo of Liu Bei's three visits to the thatched cottage taken by Xinhua News Agency, and made the following explanation: "It is said that Liu Bei invited Zhuge Liang to the Zhuge Liang site in Wolonggang, the western suburb of Nanyang, Henan." Someone once quoted Zhuge Liang's self-report in the Model and the records in the Three Kingdoms to affirm it. Because Zhuge Liang said in the "Teacher's Watch": "I am wearing a cloth and plowing in Nanyang ... The first emperor did not intend to be a minister, but he was self-defeating and took care of the minister in the grass"; History of the Three Kingdoms. Biography of Zhuge Liang also said: "I am lonely at dawn. I am the prefect of yu zhang, appointed by my father for Yuan Shu ... I choose many Han families, and declare them on their behalf, and Jingzhou is old, so I follow them." According to the Records of the Three Kingdoms, it may be that after Zhu Haodai Zhuge Liang's father's younger brother Zhuge Xuan, Zhuge Xuan went to Jingzhou to shepherd Liu Biao, while Zhuge Liang stayed in Henan to "devote himself to Nanyang". From this point of view, Liu Bei's visit to the cottage is undoubtedly in Nanyang, Henan Province, which means that Zhuge Liang's former residence is in Nanyang, Henan Province. In the Collection of Ancient and Modern Books compiled by Yu Fang, there is a poem by Ye Bingjing, a poet of the Ming Dynasty: "The mountain is flat and dark, and the tree is lonely and lonely." According to the thief minister, Jiuding can be seen, and the elders will rule the three capitals in the future. Out of Lu, rehabilitated for thousands of years, a flick of a finger between the slaves of the two countries. So, I broke my four poles, and he Shu Chi had a good plan. "You don't have to look at the title. Just look at the word" out of the thatched cottage ",and people will know that this is a tribute to Zhuge Liang. But looking at the title will understand one thing, that is, Ye Bingjing thinks that Zhuge Liang's thatched cottage is in Nanyang, Henan, because the title of this poem is Wollongong.

Wang Zun, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, once wrote a quatrain in Nanyang, praising Liu Bei for not being ashamed to look down and choosing talents and appointing talents. The whole poem is: "The ground is stuck in the mud, and the pot is not suitable, which does not hinder the planting of crops. If it weren't for my ancestors, who would know about Maolu and Wolong? " Although the author did not specify where he said Nanyang belonged, it can be inferred from the word "Wolong" in the last sentence that he said Nanyang, Henan.

Some people object that Zhuge Liang's former residence is in Nanyang, Henan Province, and think that Zhuge Liang's former residence should be in Longzhong Mountain, which is more than 200 miles away from Nanyang, Henan Province and 30 miles west of Xiangyang, Hubei Province. The reasons are as follows: "Nanyang" was a county name in the Han Dynasty, which governed more than 20 counties, but today's Nanyang in Henan was "Wan" in the Han Dynasty. Nanyang County, Nanjun County and Xiangyang County were under the jurisdiction of Jingzhou Secretariat in the Han Dynasty. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Liu Biao was appointed as the secretariat. At this time, the Eastern Han regime has been shaken. Because Liu Biao was supported and fostered by the big landlords in Jianghan area, there were Nanjun and Xiangyang counties in the scuffle between landlords and warlords, and troops were stationed in Xiangyang, but Nanyang county was not completely occupied. At this time, Wancheng was occupied by Yuan Shu, and after Yuan Shudong left, it was occupied by Zhang Jihe Zhang Xiu. In the second year of Jian 'an, Zhang Xiu surrendered to Cao Cao, and Wancheng became Cao Cao's sphere of influence. Liu Bei defected to Liu Biao in the sixth year of Jian 'an, and the third visit to Caotang should naturally be six years after Jian 'an, but at this time Liu Bei and Cao Cao were face-to-face enemies, and Wancheng had become the enemy's territory for Liu Bei. According to the reflection. ZhuGeLiangChuan, Zhang Yu is Yuan Shu's sphere of influence. Before Yuan Shu died, the Eastern Han court could not send officials into its sphere of influence. Yuan Shu died in Jian 'an for four years, Zhu Haodai Zhuge Xuan and Zhuge Xuan went to Liu Biao, four years after Jian 'an, of course. At this time, Liu Biao was stationed in Xiangyang, and his sphere of influence did not reach Nanyang. People who go to find him will not live in Nanyang, which is more than 200 miles away from Xiangyang.

"Han Shu Jin Shu Chun Qiu" also records: "(Zhuge Liang) lives in Dengxian County, Nanyang, twenty miles west of Xiangyang City, and Longzhong, posthumous title." Deng county here is not the Deng county in Henan today, because it is more than 10 miles north of Xiangyang, and the site of Deng county's old city is more than 10 miles north of Hanshui River in Xiangyang. Although Liu Biao did not completely occupy Nanyang County at that time, his sphere of influence had expanded to Wang Bo and Xinye in Nanyang County, while Deng Jun was in the south, close to Xiangyang, and within Liu Biao's sphere of influence. Zhuge Liang and his followers, from their father to Liu Biao, should live here. So Zhuge Liang's former residence should be in Longzhong Mountain in Xiangyang. This is a different point of view. It can be said that each has its own reasons, but there are also deviations. The deviation of the first theory is that it does not take into account the records of Hanshu, Jinshu and Chunqiu. The second theory abandoned Wollongong, a place closely related to Zhuge Liang. Also, there is no clear record in the reflection whether Zhuge Liang ran away with Zhuge Xuan according to Liu Biao's statement.

So the truth can only be guessed. Because of this, we hold our own opinions and argue endlessly. Where is Zhuge Liang's former residence, which is Liu Bei's thatched cottage? It is still difficult to determine, and it is still a mystery that needs to be clarified.

Nanyang had an important geographical position in the Han Dynasty. Nanyang and the transportation structure with Nanyang as the hub have played a special historical role. Investigating the traffic history and regional cultural history of Han dynasty, we can't help but pay attention to the traffic geography of Nanyang. Since the Eastern Han Dynasty, Nanyang's position has become more prominent. With the rise of the wave of southward migration, Nanyang, as the hub of Sitong and the transportation hub connecting the north and the south, has become more and more prominent. Zhuge Liang chose Nanyang as his residence, observing the world with his eyes, analyzing the situation and waiting for the opportunity. Obviously, he noticed the advantages of Nanyang's concentration and the intersection of information in all directions, which reflected the strategic vision of extraordinary politicians and militarists.
