The Historical Evolution of Xinzhou District

Xinzhou, an ancient city, was inhabited as early as the Yin and Shang Dynasties, and it has been more than 3,000 years since. Xinzhou District, Tuanfeng County and Huangzhou District were originally Huanggang County. 1951June 2 1 day, New China has another county-level regime-Xinzhou County. With the approval of the then Government Council of the Central People's Government, the original Huanggang County was divided into Huanggang County and Xinzhou County, thus ending the history that Xinzhou was not under the jurisdiction of the county government for more than 1000 years after the county government moved to Huangzhou in the fifth year of the Tang Dynasty (AD 885), and fundamentally changed from the old state to Xinzhou. As early as the Shang Dynasty, people lived together for more than 3,000 years. No county-level regime has ever been established in the name of Xinzhou in history. According to the records in Huangzhou County Records, Huanggang County Records, Historical Records and Land Expansion Records in Ming and Qing Dynasties, in 1066 BC, the king of Wu conquered Zhou and became the king of Wu, which was Shandong. So the site may be today's Yuwang City, which is located 3 kilometers north of Huangzhou. The west is away from the Yangtze River 1 km, and the Huangtuan Highway on the east edge passes through the territory.

In 206 BC, Xiang Yu appointed Wu Rui to establish the Hengshan Kingdom here. In BC 196, Emperor Gaozu made his second son Chang Lu king of Hengshan Mountain. Later, Liu Chang's rebellion was awarded the death penalty, Hengshan was abolished and changed to Qixian. During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Fei County established Qi 'an County. In the fifth year of Emperor Wendi (AD 585), Qi 'an County was abolished and changed to Huangzhou. In the first year of Yang Di Daye (AD 605), Huangzhou was changed to Yong 'an County and Huanggang County was established. In the third year of Wude in Tang Gaozu (AD 620), Yongan County was changed to Huangzhou, and the Governor's Office was set up to unify Huangzhou, Qi, Ting and Nan. Huanggang county is still established, and the state, government and county are governed by Xinzhou.

At the end of the Tang Dynasty, due to wars and disputes, The Book of the Old Tang Dynasty as a Mirror records that in the third year of the Tang Dynasty (A.D. 883), Hangzhen rebelled against Dong Chang and refused to enter the city in the trial of the imperial secretariat. Lu stayed in Huangzhou when he fled. When he heard that Cui Shao, the secretariat of Ezhou (Wuchang), died, he recruited 3,000 soldiers and horses in Huangzhou to occupy Ezhou. During the Tang Dynasty, Hubei, Yue and Wu belonged to the Wuchang Army, and Du Hong, the general of Wuchang Tooth, colluded with the road test and jointly occupied Yuezhou, claiming to be the secretariat. They occupied Hubei and Yue, and also controlled Huangzhou. For the convenience of military advance and retreat, they moved Huangzhou Prefecture to Yuwangcheng, Huangzhou.

Later, Du Hong took the road test of Anlu Zhou Tong's army to attack and took advantage of it to enter Ezhou, where he was worshipped by Tang Xizong as our army. Du Hong tried to unite Hubei, Guangdong, Qi and four countries to seek greater power, but he was savagely attacked by warlords and leaders of the Quartet. At that time, Yongxin Wuqiu led an army of an earthen regiment to occupy Huangzhou. In order to be different from the old Huangzhou where Du Hong lived, he played the banner of the new Huangzhou, and later a "new state" appeared for eight years.

Zi Jian was published in the first year (AD 894). "In March, Wu Qiuju's Huangzhou secretariat surrendered to Yang Xingmi." It can be seen that Wuqiu's Huangzhou secretariat was also recognized by the court. At that time, there were Huangzhou (now Yuwangcheng, Huangzhou) based on Du Hong and Huangzhou (now Xinzhou) based on Wu Qiu. Because Wu surrendered to Yang Xingmi, Huangzhou City was abolished, and the state, government and county governments moved to Yuwangcheng, using the name of Huangzhou. That's why they are named Huangzhou and Huanggang. Huangzhou Old Town is called "Old Town". After a long war, the people suffered a lot. After that, people used to call the "old state" a "new state", and the word "new" looked forward to the arrival of a new era.

Ming Hongzhi's "Huangzhou County Records Historical Relics" said: "Zhucheng, now known as the old city, is also known as Xinzhou." "Hubei Tongzhi" contains: "The old state was renamed Xinzhou, which is 120 miles north of the county seat, that is, the old governance Qi' an County. "

The word "Zhou" in Xinzhou mentioned above is a special word for the administrative division of "Zhou", but now the word "Zhou" written in Xinzhou District refers to the land in the water with different pronunciations. In the history of Xinzhou, the special word "Zhou" for this administrative division has been used for hundreds of years since the end of the Tang Dynasty.

Jiangxi immigrated to Hubei in the early Ming Dynasty. Due to the change of river course, the main stream of the Yangtze River moved south in Guju Prefecture, and Juniper gradually formed a big island in the lower reaches of the qu shui River. In the thirty-sixth year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1608), Mao Rui, the magistrate of Huanggang County, wrote "New State" for the first time because of the first-line water control problems in ancient states. As the name implies, Zhou was changed to Zhou, which was in line with the topography of Xinzhou at that time and corresponding to Juzhou.

Later, as a place name, Xinzhou not only refers to the town, but also covers the coastal areas in the lower reaches of qu shui until it became the name of Xixiang in Huanggang County. Therefore, when the county was established in 195 1, it was named Xinzhou County. From 65438 to 0983, Xinzhou County was transferred from Huanggang to Wuhan, and Xinzhou County was established in Wuhan, becoming a remote city in Wuhan. 1September, 1998 15, the State Council (Guo Han [1998] No.77) approved the revocation of Xinzhou County in Wuhan and the establishment of Xinzhou District, where the administrative area of Xinzhou County is Xinzhou District and the district people's government is located in Zhucheng Street.
