Which one is Chinese American-Chinese American?

Strictly speaking, translation into Chinese-American is inaccurate. Because there is no American meaning here.

Why is this? This is because the word comes from African-Americans. As we all know, African-Americans are all American citizens in the United States, that is, American citizens (except the most unexpected), so African-Americans become African-Americans. But China and China people are different. Chinese in America can be divided into naturalized and non-naturalized. Foreign students who are not naturalized or Chinese who live in the United States illegally (overstaying or illegal immigrants) are also considered Chinese, but they are not Chinese. Even Chinese who get a green card and legally live in the United States are not Chinese-Americans.

From the difference between China and these two kinds of people living in the United States, we can also see such a difference: if you are an American family member, you can enjoy the treatment of overseas Chinese in Chinese mainland, but if you are not naturalized, you can't enjoy it.

From this perspective, the accurate translation of Chinese Americans should be:

Chinese American citizen.
