I have been in Wenzhou for a long time, but I have been far away from Dongtou. I gradually forget that Wenzhou is a coastal city and only remember its landscape. I often say that the only places I want to go are Yandang Mountain and nanxi river, and I have never been to Dongtou.

During the Spring Festival holiday, we chose to go to Dongtou to see the sea on the second day of the Lunar New Year and learn about Wenzhou, the only island area.

Wenzhou has four main urban areas, namely ouhai district, Lucheng, Longwan and Dongtou.

Dongtou District consists of 104 islands, with a land area of 172.50 square kilometers and a permanent population of about100000.

1964 resumed its county organizational system, and it was not until 20 15 that it was withdrawn from the county to set up districts. Previously, it was one of the 12 island counties in China, and it was also known as Baidao County.

Maybe you will be curious, why is it called Dongtou? In fact, this stems from a story:

It is said that Dongtou, formerly known as Zhongjie Island, was inhabited here as early as six or seven thousand years ago.

During the Ming Dynasty, pirates were rampant in coastal areas. In order to resist pirates, the Ming Dynasty imposed a sea ban and moved many residents on the island, and many islands gradually became barren. In the early years of Qing Dynasty, in order to guard against Zheng Chenggong's anti-Qing restoration in the coastal areas, the Qing government also imposed a sea ban, and Zhongjie Island became an uninhabited island.

Later, Zheng Keshuang, the grandson of Zheng Chenggong, went to the Western Ocean, the Qing government banned the sea, and people from Zhejiang and Fujian immigrated here. The sea ban has just opened, the trees on the island are lush, and the sea is rich in fish and shrimp. It is said that a Fujian fishing boat is producing in this area and washing the deck with buckets near Xiandie Rock. As a result, the rope tied to the bucket broke and the bucket was swept away by the waves.

The fishing boat drifted to a depression in the northeast of the island and found the lost barrel floating on the sea. It is speculated that the barrel should have rolled into the cave, and the hole has been through the Aokou, so the place where the barrel fell was called Dongtou, and later the whole island was called Dongtou.

Driving to Dongtou, when there are large wetlands on both sides of the road, it means Dongtou is coming soon. According to friends in the same trade, these wasteland were originally the sea, but they were just filled in.

Going forward, the two sides become a wide ocean, but it is not a picture of blue sky and clear water, but the sea is turbid, the sky is slightly dim, and the distance becomes blurred.

On the way, either both sides of the road face the sea, or one side faces the mountain and the other side faces the sea. The waves on the roadside are rough, which reminds me of the picture of small and medium-sized trains driving in the water. I was particularly impressed by a bridge along the way, that is, the Shenmen Bridge.

There are two towers in the middle of the bridge, and there are white iron cables on both sides of the bridge. The front and rear parts are curved. From a distance, it looks like a white Youlong lurking on the sea.

After crossing the Shenmen Bridge, the breath of the coastal city became more and more rich, and the king coconut began to appear on both sides of the road, as if the air was full of the salty taste of the ocean.

Passing through Dongtou City, the vegetable market is very lively, and even the roads are congested. The houses on both sides of the street are not very high. At first glance, it feels a little old.

In the village near the sea, the outer walls of houses are painted with colors, either white or warm yellow. Some dilapidated houses have old stairs outside, and when they stand up, there are large portraits. At that time, I seemed to understand what a fishing village was.

What's interesting about Dongtou?

When you come to Dongtou, it is necessary to see the sea.

The sea at Dongtou is not endless. There are some islands scattered on the sea. The nearest one is only a few meters, and the far one is near the end of the eye.

You can see the waves beating against the cliff opposite, causing white spray. These rocks are yellow or blue because they have been beaten by the waves for a long time.

Perhaps because of spring and summer, I missed seeing the deep blue sea, but I was fascinated by the waves in Dongtou, which is the most worth seeing in person.
