During his stay in the United States, he began to write prose and literary criticism, and his works were published in North America's World Journal, Ming Pao, Overseas Chinese News, US-China Times, South American News, Freeman Daily, Overseas Edition, Chinese and Foreign Forum, A Trip to North America, Chinese World, Human Guide, Texas Monthly, etc.

Published a trilogy of foreign prose, Walking the Tianya, Honeymoon Paris-Walking on the Longitude and Latitude of the Earth and Living in the Gulf of Mexico. In 2000, the essay "Looking at the Moon in a Foreign Land" won the first prize of joint essay writing by World Journal and Los Angeles Writers Association. He is regarded as a pioneer in the study of contemporary North American new immigrant literature, and many related academic articles have aroused great repercussions at home and abroad, which have influenced the current research trend of Chinese literature in the world at home and abroad. Chen studies overseas literature as a branch of China literature, paying special attention to the works of new immigrant writers. In recent years, the North American Chinese literary world has increasingly become an important position for overseas literature, and writers have emerged one after another, especially new immigrant writers. Compared with the long literature on overseas students in Taiwan Province, the literature on overseas students in Chinese mainland only appeared for a short time, followed by the magnificent literature on new immigrants. When studying North American writers, Chen found that although most of them came from deep cultural background, different occupations, different identities, complex backgrounds and inequality between the rich and the poor, the writers were equally devoted, so their creative achievements attracted the attention of readers and critics. Twenty years have passed since the early 1980s. This course cannot be short. Chen excitedly told the audience that the history of modern literature in China is only 30 years, while the theme of contemporary literature in China in the new period is five years, and the wave of overseas students' literature in Taiwan Province Province in the 1960s only rolled 10 years.
